New starter motor???

Just fitted a new alternator two weeks ago and charged up the battery cos it was flat nunned fine until today.
It woulnt start or even turn the engine i hit the starter motor with a hammer now works fine.
Is it likely to happen again or shall i just fit a new starter motor?????? Help

Hitting the starter with a hammer is only a temporary fix,in the end the starter will pack up.
