My W reg Saxo Forte has just started a weird knocking noise coming from somewhere in the front. The noise starts at around 35 to 40 mph when accelerating especially when going up hill.
I thought it could be a front wheel bearing, but today I was out in the car with my wife in the passenger seat and no matter what I tried I could not get the noise to start.
As soon as I was driving on my own the noise was there again.
I cannot imagine a wheel bearing stopping knocking when a passenger is in the car but really don't know.
The car is performing perfectly normally in all other aspects, although I sensed rather than am sure that at low speeds when on my own there is a slight steering shudder. But like I said not sure if this is new or I am just looking to notice things.

i would check CV boots for any leaking grease first, this was the problem I had. I now have a new knocking noise coming from (i think) mid section of the car whenever changing gear or sudden acceleration. Try turning in tight corners and if it worsens it may be a CV joint wearing out

hope it helps

Any buckles in the front wheels mates(not rotating properly)?
