got my driveshaft off to put a new one on, its on my mk2 vtr with intermediate bearing on the shaft. anyway I've got a rubber seal to go back on the new shaft and can't remember which way it goes? i thought it was the seal out of the gearbox but its not and can't remember where to put it other than on the shaft because it came off on the old shaft. Help?

Hard to make sense of that but theres a seal on the gearbox side (where the shaft goes into the diff) and a rubber dougnut that just pushes up onto the shaft

its a dust cover, just slide it up to the gear box
the oil seal is in the box.
