Ive always wanted one after italian job (the first one of course) and was wondering what are your guys opinions and reviews if you have driven one.
Also is it realy worth around 5-8K for a 2000 Mini

Personally, no. It's the reputation you buy, not the car :(

no it's not, are you having a laugh. What it costs is not what it's worth. A more realistic price would be 500-800

I love them but I'd never have one as my only car. Couldn't be bothered with the rust and if I was to have a second car I'd rather have a caterham or something.

Couldn't be bothered with the rust
one of my mates started a mini project last year. He ended up replacing whole panels including the floor, what a waste of time and money.

I know parts for these are cheap, and in the end all you buy is a car for its reputation like dean says, but having had old cars and a few mates with the old mini's all your buying is a headach, only takes 9 months to have rust on new panels, but there like a go cart in towns just all comes down to that olde fact....... Never buy the car you have always wanted, your only feel let down !!!

This was my brother's Mini Rio, he paid £300 for it and it needed a new wing. While we were there we put a 1.4 metro engine in and a posh exhaust (Can't remember the brand). Unfortunately he lost control being stupid on a public road. Was a beautiful car and I'd really love one again given the oppertunity.

A late mini will hold it value if looked after - unlike most cars!!

Thats a lot for a standard one but as its an iconic car then they will command the money. There was on ebay that looked standard but it was £10,000..however the guy had put a K20A under the bonnet and had done it in such a way that the nose hadn't needed to be lengthened. Epic!

They are fucking awesome cars! I don't know if i'd buy a later one though. I'd probably buy a cheapish one from the 80s and expect to do some repair work on it as they are bad for rust. The early mini's from the 60s were better built mind. The later ones in the 80s early 90s were made from a shitter quality metal and less well built thus rusted far quicker.

actually, thats the exact definition of what somethings worth... supply and demand, there's not many mini's about yet loads of people want them, thus the price increases.
If people are willing to pay the asking price, than the asking price is the correct value. Whilst you can get cars which offer better 'value for money' that doesn't take anything away from the value of the mini.
would I own one? nope, I don't see the hype personally, but obviously loads of people do!
