Will be looking for a new set of rubber at some point as the previous owner of the vts has put 3 different brand budget spec ditch finders on and to say they are shockingly shit is an understatement. Shame as they are all brand new.
Will be looking at 195/45/15 for the vts wheels.
Has anybody any experience with both of the tyres mentioned?
Both tyres have always had great reviews but never heard anything mentioned about them on saxo's, so anyone?

i would rather drive on bare rims than stick another set of uniroyal rainsport 2s on my car. terrible, terrible tyres

Rainsports are a better tyre. The yoko's are good as I've currently got them on mine, but I've had rainsports on a different car (205/40/17) and they offered the same grip in the dry but better in the wet, and they're a bit quieter on the road too.

See I'd prefer Uniroyal Rainsport 2 over S-drives! I hated the S-drives that I had on before. Im using Goodyear Eagle F1 now though and I like them...could be worth looking at those too :y:

Wasn't expecting that, used to be a tyre fitter and customers used to bang on about them being amazing all the time.

Yeah iv got F1's in mind too but had those before and seeing if there is anything else worth giving a go.
Mainly had Parada spec 2's on my motors and love them but can get hairy in the wet untill you get abit of heat into them, i just get a feeling in the wet this time on the saxo that id be seeing myself in a ditch :n: Its more or less constantly shit weather here and my daily drive is across the hill tops.

uniroyal rain sports are total poo in anything other than deep snow, so unless your going to the north pole for a smash about dont ever buy them, there so soft and as soon as they get any kind of heat in them the tread moves and there horrible they dont grip when warm which is strange, ive had 1 set and 2 pairs and its only cus my dad can get them monster cheap through his business, i keep telling him i hate them and there s**t but he wont have it, id rather drive round on near the limit avon zt5's and still have more grip than the uniroyals!!

Rainsport 2s are alot better than rainsports. About on the same level as eagle F1s but last longer.

I've just ordered some Rainsport 2's today, from the reviews I've read it seems 80-90% of people agree they are a brilliant tyre, and they are around £20 cheaper a tyre than f1's so I'll see how I get on with them I guess!

Pretty mixed views on the Rainsport 2's it seems.

yeah seems that way... might depend on driver style, feel and car set up

grip wise the rainsport 2s are average, nothing exciting. the trouble i have had is the massive lack of steering feel with them. theyve caused a big delay in steering response, lots more body roll, very unpredictable at speed and plain dangerous on heavy braking, they squirm all over the place!

Suppose anything at the moment will be an upgrade to the ditch finders iv got on at the moment.

I love the Goodyear Eagle F1's when I had them on my rallye years ago. But I've heard the old F1's got discontinued or something? Not sure if the new-er ones are up to scratch?

And they cost a kidney for each corner! So can only afford 2 :(

I know your question is about one tyre or the other but I would recommend toyo t1r tyres I think they are good in the dry and wet and are not a bad price.

Toyo T1-R's. Amazing tyres and I thought they were cheaper last time I checked?

I have eagle F1's and they are a bit too soft a compound imo wear down bit quickly.

I'd say look at falken ze912 or 913 got several mates and my brother running them and highly reccomend them.

Another good make to look at is Marangoni

Seriously i know everyone rates the toyos.

But they really are that good!

Since having them on my car its transformed, less understeer can brake harder more grip, even in the wet i was surprised at how good they are. Can't fault them although i have heard they don't last long. Cant complain at £50 a tyre.

on my saxo i had dunlop sp sport fast repsonse. Driving in the rain was like driving in the dry. I couldnot believe how much grip there was. My mate drove it to and he couldn't believe the grip as well. He owned an impreza sti at the time.
