hi guys
i have had a really shit weekend. on saturday night i went out for a drive with my mate and had a really good time. but on the way back home i had the scare of my life.
we were at the traffic lights just about to head on the motorway. so we thought we would have a small race on to the motorway up the slip road. so the lights go green and were off beat the crap out of his 1.4 saxo lol. so there i am flying up the slip road and on the motorway. next thing i know there was a huge bang and i felt loads of stuff hitting me. my bonnet had flown up smashed the windscreen and fcuked my roof. so hear i am doing 80mph+ at 11.30pm in the dark with my bonnet stuck up in the air not haveing a clue were to go and glass in my eye. so tryed to get it on the hard shoulder but did not have a clue were it was as i could not see anything. my mate saw what happened and came up behide me to tell me were i was on the motorway. we got out tryed tying the bonnet down as best we could. (thanks subs for your nice speaker wire lol) but the roof was totaly fcuked were the bonnet had hit it so hard. i then had to drive it home with a totaly smashed windscreen.
all this just after a week of me putting it back on the road. but this could have been alot worse.
Shouldnt be speeding mate, what caused the bonnet to flip up?

If you're gonan race, race with racin equipment, like nipple rings for yer bonnet.. They were invented so the hood doesn't pop with a cross wind while you're kickin the arse out your pocket rocket....

I had a fault with the locking pin on bonnet, it came loose lucky for me I was only doing 10mph, the bonnet lifted but dropped back down
took it back to shitreon, to fix, they wanted to weld it, I wanted a new bonnet, end of the day it was some faulty welding that was the prob, 02 vtr

They recalled alot of clios as bonnets were opening and causing smashes as my aunties one got taken in for a new catch
babers
25th July 2006, 10:12
dont know why the catchs let go. be better if the bonnets opened the other way like on some of the older cars

yer mate it hit the aerial and caved in on the mounting point for the aerial. best place for it. cos to get the dent out we had to take the light out inside and jack it back out so i could have a new windscreen.

how hard is it to cut a vent into your bonnet as this would work out cheaper then buying a new one. anyone got any idea of what vent looks good on saxos

25th July 2006, 16:48
in his defence he it would not have been the racing that did the bonet. Its unfair it came up after you were going 80MPH, maybe if you stuck to the limit it may not have happened?
Least you beat the 1.4!

25th July 2006, 16:57
That's abit shit mate!!
Bet it scared the fuck outa' you! :fcuk:

25th July 2006, 17:00
the racing has nothing to do with the bonnet coming up, if he was doing 70mph it would still of happened so everyone get over yourselfs about this "i dont race" crap.

25th July 2006, 18:15
sorry about tthe damage to your car but hope you have learnt your lesson, you should be thankful it wasnt more serios! how much is the damage gonna cost?
welshy2k
25th July 2006, 18:37
whether babers was racing or not is irrelevant....those cars are developed to go that speed, without that happening.
I am not saying its ok to speed but his bonnet shouldn't be flying up smashing his window and doing the extent of damage that it did...their is obviously been some faulty work done or the clip has snapped...
I personally would be taking the car to who ever worked on it last and asking what happened

I herd that its just the catch cloggin with shit! if you get some WD40 and a toothbrush and give it a good clean and give the catch a good dose of grease and it should prevent it from happening (obv this advice is to late for this poor fellow but i thought id share it :). Sorry bout your bonnet dude at least you ok)
