you cant really get much power without spending quite a bit of money, same goes for any car... sure an induction kit, exhaust etc will help, but when yuou only have 70odd BHP in the first place..

if you want more power, why not save up for a VTR or VTS when you can afford to insure one...

you definately do get used to your car, when i got my VTS it was the best thing ever, now i'm used to the acceleration etc.. i want it faster !!!!

So this is like driving a TVR!

save your cash for mods on that IMO, they're a quick car in the first place! you won't get much more out of your furio for less than a grand !

I had a Westcoast before and yeah you get use to the power, but it's still fast for what it is. How many 1.4 8v cars will do 0-60 in around 10 seconds?

The only way to get best out of a 1.4 is to get a good induction (Viper was good for me), exhaust, is the decat in the manifold? If not, decat it.

That's really it, you will be running about 80bhp with those mods. If you fancy going the full whack though, get a manifold, remap the ECU and maybe stick another cam in it, u'll be overtaking Mk1 VTR's then.

It's either that or save up for a VTR/S when possible.

the furio's are ok round streets quite nippy and quite quick of the mark....induction kits will boost your power slighlty but as previously mentioned unless you wanna spend serious money then your not gonna get much of a boost.....

Insurance wise furio's are great....they have the look of the vtr and vts but not the premiums :A:....

Honda CRX del sols are lovely wee cars but they hide a horrible secret they are insurance group 16:wacko:

a wouldnt bother gettin a vtr after a furio, wont be that much different and you'll get bored after a few days.

remember... 'its just a badge'

it really depends what your looking for in a car.....you want power just buy a VTS....Vtr's are faster than a furio but their isnt much of a difference....it really does depend if your after power or style so when you know what you want the next steps are easy :A:

honda civic ek 9 vti
toyota starlet gt
polo gti
audi a3 1.8t
punto gt
civic ep type r

would all cream a vts for dead. In every aspect. dont waste your money on a vtr (i own one, i know) or a vts (i almost own another, my close cousin has one i spin around in now and then) they dont stand a chance against 'real' cars. Unless you spend £3-4 k on em. You really want to spend 3-4 k on furio/vtr/s ?! for £1k you can buy a k reg civic vt/i that would embaras a saxo vtr/s.

EDIT:

focus st = sex
astra vxr = sex
seat leon 2.0 turbo= sex

reef a punto gt would not cream a vts in every way, in a straight line the punto is marginally faster and the punto cannot corner for shit, polo gti is slower than a vts and the A3 (completely different sized car and class) is pretty damn slow to considering how much it weighs, only the 180bhp engined ones are fast and again cant corner for spunk.

Why you even own a saxo is beyond me as all you do is moan about them. As for "real" cars every one you listed above can be owned by other cars so does that make the "real" cars you have listed pap?

And incase this blows up this is by no means a slaging match or anything else mearly an opinion against an opinion :)

saxo's are brilliant hatchbacks and you do get what you pay for..... the power in a saxo is actually quite impressive considering the size of the car and the way it is built....any car made from mainly fibreglass really shouldnt exceed the 130mph mark because that officially makes them a death trap....if your after more power then i would agree with scott get rid of the saxo and look else where

dude, i respect your opinions, im not looking for a slagging match, just writing what i think like you wrote what you think, im just talking from my personal experiances with those cars, i agree about the audi come to think of it, as my brother use to own a 1.8t, it was a bit slow for what it was, but iv seen some seriously rapid punto gt's roaming around trax, mental.

EDIT: i am going to get rid of the saxo, hench my other threads, but it needs some tlc before i sell it.

very true some of the punto gts can be made to be rapiiiide but so can saxos:P

I can say i am getting a little borred of it (only the tiniest bit tho) thats only because my bike done 0-60 in around 7 seconds :) and the kid round the corner has just got one so im really missing that, but for the insurance and my age im laughing as my car is the quickest out of all of my mates, and it has more luxurys than theirs too! (apart from one who has air con... git!), so i dont tend to complain!

The Focus ST for the size of the car and money it costs is probably the best buy out at the moment.

Clarkson
25th July 2006, 13:42
aye, 20k. what a car.

Looking forward to mine

Get a proper car.

Ive said it many times before i know, but Ibiza FR's are easily the best hot hatch for the money. 13k is i think around the 160 bhp mark and they look the tits, and for 300 quid you can jabba chip em to 220 bhp. And it aint bullshit checkout the jabba sports web site. The Cupras cant be tuned to such a high power either, because the ECU has already been tinkered with wheres in a FR it hasnt been changed from the normal Ibiza ECU

25th July 2006, 16:52
ye i test drove a fiesta ST and theres a chip thing called bluefin
it gives the ST something like 50bhp and mini coopers 32bhp :O
its only £250 ish too

im bored of my power but i know that i cant get more power from it with serious cash, if i was gonna spend some decent money on it, id get a vtr conversion as itll be the cheapest way of increasing its power then tune the vtr engine..

Luke
25th July 2006, 16:55
Why you all complaining of power though?

Speed limits are there for a reason. Ok, so me having a VTR is nice because i have the extra power in higher gears and lower revs, but still...!

Reef
25th July 2006, 16:57
i was telling my mate the other day about the NEW breed of hot hatchs and only these cars where worthy of mentioning (new = off the showroom type of money if you got it) =

Astra VXR in that blue colour
Focus ST in that ORANGE colour ITS SOOO AWESOME ! *DROOLS*
Leon turbo in black (of course)

one has to wait till early next year for the NEW CIVIC TYPE R but it will be worth it, strange thing is, wonder why honda dont turbo it, shame because a custom turbo'd (current type r) civic type r is mental.

its all about what ur after....style or power....i love my fto its styling and quite nippy....but its not the fastest jap car out their but who cares??

Luke
25th July 2006, 17:05
I went for style with the Westie.

With the VTR it's style again and sound.

welshy2k
25th July 2006, 17:06
