Right ive got a noise coming from the drivers side front wich i can only describe and a rubbing noise it happens when i slack off the throttle and when im slowing down, i thought it was the o/s driveshaft also squeeks when turning both left and right wich it didnt use to before this probem accured anyone had this problem before and can shed some light on if its the driveshaft or not so i dont go and buy one if its not needed.

check cv boot for damage, debris getting in/lack of lubrication may lead to damage of cv joint. Worth a shot, pack with grease if possible and see if it improves

hmmmm had my cv boot come of, which caused all the grease to empty and caused the joint to knock but not rub as such.

The only way is to have have a look & see if either the boot has split or its come away.Depending on how much grease has been lost it may pay you to fit another driveshaft. As loosing the grease causes cv joint wear.:drink:

Mine has just been in the garage he shown me the cv joins had been tied on to pass a mot supposedly (wasn't me only had the car a week) and that the grease had splurted out said needs a full driveshaft and quoted me 300 for supply and fitting I nearly had a heart attack lol I know I cn get it done cheaper... Thing is the strange sound isn't all the time only don't it once today so bit confused .. He told me not to grease it as once they r damaged not much can do but to wait till it gets louder then sort it ...

wow 300 i have been quoted 180 for both sides supplied and fitted. mine did it the once before Xmas and i just ignored it and it didn't come back until couple weeks ago. maybe if you grease it now might last a bit longer than mine did, but I'm not a mechanic so i wouldn't know and don't want to give you the wrong advice.

my mate is a mechanic... so going to get the shaft from europarts 50 quid a side and he is gunna fit them for free... he had a drive of it and said possible wheel baring as well .. not sure if the two are the reason are the same problem but gunna change them too ... hopefully that will be the end of the problem .. :)

my drivers side gator fell off spilling grease everywhere, so just drove it to get some more lithium grease (what came out), repacked it with grease and used a jubilee clip to keep the gator on till longer. But now ive noticed a knocking from the passenger side when changing gear or any jerking, linked or not? it is the other side making the noise
