the car is a 1.1 spi black top. Normally starts fine in warmish weather (like in the daytime at the moment). Normally won't start in ice cold weather without fuss. To get it to start when it's playing up you have to add some revs. Also once you have got it started it will stall as you dip the clutch to change gear (battery light also comes on), select a gear and normally it comes back to life. After its warmed up the idle rpm is also normally higher than it should be by 200 odd rpm. Here's a list of thing's I've done, any other suggestions welcome!

Changed plugs
Checked battery
changed coolant temp sensor
changed air temp sensor
adjusted tappets - helped improve it slightly
changed stepper motor
changed fuel filter

Can't put it on a diagnostics as the plug for it in the cabin appears to be dead :s
