Im going to be doing this soon just sourcing parts. You will need vtr or vts front struts, font springs, hubs, brake set up (calipers, discs and pads) and for the rear think you just get a vtr/s axle.
Think thats it.

Yeah or find someone whos breaking one. eBay prices are stupid, some sellers want around £40 per strut without brake set up. Same as me but luckily iv got a mate who can do the axle for me.

You can use the struts from a Furio or 1.1 4stud too..
Driveshafts may differ aswell, depending on the year you get the struts from.
Rear axle, unbolt and bolt the new one on.
If you're changing it for a Vtr/S axle with discs you'll need the handbrake cables from a Vts/s aswell.

So if im changing the front struts to vtr ones, will I need to swap my 1.1 drive shafts for vtr ones? Or will those drive shafts only work on a vtr/vts engine? Also didnt think about the handbrake cables! lol

Dont quote me on this, but I'm sure you can still use the same shafts.. in vtr/s struts.. Providing they're the same type, tapered/non tapered.

can you not just change the disks to ones with 4 holes and same with the hubs?

yeah im pretty sure thats write. You just need to check if your driveshafts are tapered or not. they differ from mk1-mk2's iirc

Probably a stupid question but how do you know if they are tapered or not?

You can use a 4 stud drum setup on the rear.... may save you a few pennies if your not wanting to change the axle.

What would you need for that?

i'm sure i read somewhere on here that the pins are slightly longer on the 4 stud axle. if so they would need changing aswell

also a tapered (i think) has the longer hub nut
the non tapered has a shorter hub nut
(pretty sure its that, if not, the other way round)

Going from drum to disck you'll need to change the brake lines too

What would you need for that?
The backing plate, stub pin (as mentioned), and the drum & shoe setup
Ive also seen a few cars come into work that have the discs put onto a poverty spec beam with no arb.

so what would you think my 1997 mk 1 1.0 would be tapered or non tapered?
