I used to do mauy Thai but I had to give it up because of work commitments, I regret giving it up.

Do you fight (in the ring) or just to keep fit?

Not boxing but used to do a lot of Muay Thai and the occasional BJJ session..

It's great imo, very physical and strength based especially when grappling (it's so tiring)

Would end up with some absolute shiners from training never mind sparring, all very good fun though!

Actually starting back soon however finding a new trainer as my old fighting club has gone downhill apparently..

Kickboxed for a few years.

Done MMA on and off.

Was going to get into it properly in the summer but I'm going to do Krav Maga instead, the ultimate to real fighting

Thanks for the link man!

Just starting it really, used to be a gymnast for like 11 years so seems easy to move to, however it sort of goes against everything i have been taught!

Good fun though!

This type of thing is what really pisses me off....

As far as i can work out most of the above are not 'boxers' or 'mma fighters' all you do is occasionally hit a punch bag or have a wrestle with a mate. No1 has gone toe to toe with someone with the potential to get knocked out.

Sorry to be seen to be havin a go but in life it seems if your not a boxer your a professional football player. Wheres karl pilkington aka bullshit man when ya need him.

p.s. I did boxing at uni last year, i trained. did bagwork, spa'd with other lads. Am i a boxer? No and neither are most of the above.

No1 in particular. Im just generalising. People may have boxed properly in this thread. But im just sayin there is a major difference between hitting a punch bag and goin toe to toe with someone.

I dont think anyone on here claims to be a fighter of any description. Everyone posted has said they train a specific art but thats it. I think I'm the only competing fighter, and even I didn't say I'm a fighter?

I don't get your point? To me it's quite obvious there's a big difference but there's no one in this thread who do bags and claiming to be able to beat pro fighters? Or am I missing something?

Again, not sure what your annoyed about? If someone said, 'has anyone got a corsa vxr' you will always get people saying, their brother has one, their mare has one etc.. As far as I'm aware no one has been 'bs''ting?

I used to train, from when I was 13 - 15.

I was the perfect build for a boxer - tall, chunky, with massive shoulders. My mums ex boyfriend took me along to a training session one day and I was absolutley hooked. I loved it. I was really fit, with muscles I never knew I had. But it came to the point where I was ready to fight, but I was going to have to chose between the boxing and the horses.

Fate intervened though - a horse broke my jaw and I couldn't fight as it was too delicate. I was completley devestated and I went off the rails as I was angry as hell over it. Looking back now, I wish I had chosen boxing as horseriding is such ann expensive sport, I could be much further with the boxing than I ever have been with the horses.

I went back to training for a while but it isn't the same! I had no motivation as I wasn't working towards anything. Really fancy going back now that I've got to grips with the fact I won't fight and will just be doing it to lose weight.

It teaches you good discipline. I loved it. And I'd kill for my boxing body back.

I'm registered with the Amateur Boxing Association, licensed to box, had 5 amatuer fights, won them all

How am I not a boxer

I get what you mean in a way everyone and their goldfish are "Cage fighters" or "Do that UFC stuff" these days and that does annoy me, I have known people to come into my boxing gym, stay for one night and then never return yet start blabbing all over Facebook about how good they are and who they sparred tonight when I know they weren't there. Very strange that people feel the need to big themselves up.

If someone wants to pretend theyre the next best thing let them go for it...does it fucking hurt anybody ???

^ What's with the proper aggression? No one is claiming to be the hardest person in the world, the OP simply asked who amongst us boxed?

It's just a sport at the end of the day, if the thread was "Who plays for a Sunday league team?" would you start with the "If your the most skilled, best football player in the world, does that make you better than the next person!?"

I don't think so, just chill out man.

I said most of the above. The odd few may of done this and that. I was also just sayin about people in general. If you have properly fought then fair play to you.

And as for the guy above. Nice attempt at bein funny i will give ya that. But in truth after training me an my mates regularly go for a swim/jacuzzi/steam room. I think you may be a bit insecure about your sexuality. Dont worry there are people who can help. I guess its even more evident when you need to talk about milfs to other men while boxing. To me it sounds like your all covering up the fact you want to get naked, butter each other up and wrestle there and then. Like i said dont worry people can help you.

Nobody in this thread claimed to 'fight' when they didn't etc... Infact most stated 'sessions' 'training' etc. so get off your high horse!

I haven't fought or claimed to, but I intend to get back into it for the enjoyment factor, fitness and social aspect.

I'm currently hovering around the 96kg mark, I'd rather be a lot less though as the damage that can be done at heavyweight is pretty bad, but I aint complaining really (I'm not as slow / a lump as you might imagine I'm just very tall)

I second this - There probably are places and strength and conditioning programs that are better but in general, boxing training is tough and if you're looking to get into shape will be 1000% better than running on a treadmill or a cross trainer or something stupid, you will be dead by the end of a good session down a boxing gym, but it gets addictive :)

The only reason Ive really stopped boxing is that all the years I've been there.. The training has been exactly the same, nothing different.. So not only is it boring I'm not getting fitter either..

+1.

When my mate trains me we do sparring, sit ups with a medicine ball, push ups, resistance band training, heavy bag work, punching sit ups, punching with dumbells and so on, its a good work out.

I used to think trackdays were addictive but nothing beats boxing. When i am not boxing im running, hopefully have a few bouts later on in the year.

Just looking forward to my mates pro debut fight in London in april, will be a big one.

I used to train in the junior class for an hour, then straight after train with the adults for 2 (I was only 14 at the time haha) as they wanted to condition me for when I was older..... It worked, my confidence grew so much
