wont start

hi peeps i have a x reg 106 i have put the vtr engine in her phase 1 no matter what battery i use which i do test and come up as fully charged, it will not start turns over like its got a flat battery have got some think in mind what it may be just wanna see what you guys think?

Possibly an earth problem,check the earths on the gearbox.

This happened to mine the other day, it turned out to be the ignition loom was faulty. I'm not saying its 100% your fault, but the same thing happened to me, I put the battery on charge over night and when trying to start it it sounded like it was dead, I fiddled with the key while cranking and sometimes it would speed up, I replaced the ignition loom and it all works ok now :) hope this helps.

it all worked fine before i changed the engine and also i done all gear box earths and body earths. the only thing that i think it could be is the 1.1 starter motor is on the vtr engine but some think is tellin me it should not make a difference as there both 8 valve im lost here lol my clocks are stable as a rock so my earths should be ok they did flicker before so thats wy i cleaned all my earths

1.1 starter is fine on a vtr. i'm still using mine on my 16v conversion

recently my battery kept draining as there was a constant live going to the sub/amp. could be something along those lines...

i dont have a sub just stereo but when testing battery when i connect it it drops about .12 some think is not right

i had this problem the other day there was just a ticking noise when turning the key, hit my starter motor and off i went, however i do have a 1.1 which may not help your case, however i have heard that a starter motor from a 1.1 with only turn over upto a 1.4, so with it being a 1.6 this may be the problem. not 100% but hope you sort it

nope i'm using parts from my 1.1 engine on my 16v conversion including starter and alternator and they work fine :y:

was my starter motor put gti one on her works lovely, any one got a alternater kicking about has to be the one with a jack plug and o ring
