View Full Version : Removing a HID kit

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Saxo VTR which came fitted with an aftermarket HID kit. One of the ballasts has failed taking the bulb with it, and after reading the sticky on lights, I want to remove the HID kit entirely and revert to standard halogen bulbs.

The HID kit installed meant that one bulb was halogen, and the other Xenon (not the standard bi-xenon type kit), so after removing both ballasts, the high-beam bulb still works as normal, but no normal driving headlight.

Hoping this is not a daft question, but how would I go about reverting the system to halogen bulbs?

Thanks!

If its a Mk2 saxo with googley standard headlights, and H4 bulbs then check the fuse for dipped beam, thats probably gone.

If you have Mk2 with projector lenses you'll have H7 bulbs, you can check the fuse, its probably gone, but whatever the sticky thread says, xenon headlights are so much brighter than halogen, you will regret taking them out if you do alot of night time driving.

HID's arent that bad tbh if you align them properly. One of my Hids went out once so i just replaced one of the ballasts (from ebay £10) and it now works.

Those hid kits are not road legal so best to go back to halogen. Stock bulb is a h4 and if u trace the wire back the stock plug will still be there if ur lucky.
