I'm currently removing the standard front and rear bumpers from my 1.1 desire in preparation for fitting a body kit (which i haven't bought yet :P but I've got my eye on a jap body kit off ebay :y: ). Anyway what i'm wondering is what will i need to keep from the bumper except the obvious fog lights?

Thats the kit, i will be fitting it myself but with much help from my dad who worked in the motor trade so hopefully this will be childs play for him :y: its just threw him off a bit as he said there should be a metal support across the bumper but on my saxo its just a plastic one (also he was a VW specialist so has no experience with saxos).

The bumper bar (impact bar) behind the rear bumper .. you need that still on the car an the kit bumper goes over it like the standard one did

thats going to be a bastard to fit, theres nothing to these bar the out side so you need to make mounting points yourself add more filler to parts and sand other bits down. really mot worth the hassle tbh you'd be better getting yourself one of the plastic kits that come ready to fit and that won't crack at the slightest bump

Well im a boy racer on a budget so cant afford top notch body kits :D but we will be using fiberglass filler where needed so that should allow some flex and hopefully wont crack :y: ill make sure to keep the impact bar off the rubbish pile then thanks! :)

The inpact bar on the front bumper is built into the bumper ... you mite be able to split it off tho ... Just have a go at it if the standard bumper is goin on the scrap pile

In that link the two pictures are of different body kits :S. Also you'll get alot of stick as body kits like these aren't "cool" anymore.
In my opinion it's not worth all the hassle of modifying it to fit and then trying to make it so it sits flush with the light and bonnet ect to then go over a badger and it to crack or rip off, it's not exactly unique but just get a VT kit on.

So would this mean that the front bumper on a body kit will already have an impact bar molded into it or will i need to remove the one from the original bumper and fix it to the body kit?

Well i'm just looking for something a bit different to be honest, i find the vt kits to be a bit plain but there is a lot of good examples I've seen of people modding them but its just not what i want :D

As someone who has fitted a VT kit to a saxo I would say you are looking at a massive job installing that kit. The 150 you spent on it will be the tip of the iceberg so to speak.
Rattle can it and it will look crap, bond it on and it will look crap and most likley come away in a few months.
Hate to say it but to have that kit fitted and sprayed your looking at about £600-700. Save up, dont abort the job as it will ruin your car, why not install a VT kit, far easier, less weight and will actually look good.
Best of luck with it tho mate I hope it comes off well for you

Personally mate if you really want a body kit, just put VTR/S kit on it
Of leave it flat arch and make it clean as f**^

just buy a furio onwards with the kit already on, no point in wasting time and money doing such cosmetics on a 1.1. Keep in mind your insurance premium will also go up.
I agree mate ... I does my head in when people say dont do this dont do that or people will slat you for it .... Let them! ... So because other people dont like your ideas or mods you shouldnt have them on your car ... fcuk em! ... Its your car do what you want to it
Then someone unfortunately broke down on yellow lines earlier today, while asking for help in "problems and queries":
An why are you parking on yellow lines for? ... Hope you get a ticket! Or even towed away ... An I dont mean by the AA or RAC!
congratulations really:clapping:

It wont be a rattle can job we will be using a spray guy & compressor
I just think the VT kit looks too standard
I think i'll go ahead with the body kit and take the stick that comes with it :y: ill see about posting a progress thread in the near future to show you guys how it came out weather its a complete cock up or not (hopefully not :A:)
