Hey guys,

Ive been reading through a few peoples threads in this section and alot of people are paying very little on insurance comapred to me!!

Im 22, have a 206 GTI (2.0 16v) 4years NCB at this years renewal, no points, no incidents, car is parked on a CCTV covered driveway and im paying..... wait for it..... £1500 TPFT with Admiral :fcuk: !! and thats with my mam and grandad on the policy as named drivers. I think it was £1800ish without them on.

Fully comp with just me on the policy is around the £2500 mark :(

now i know at last years renewal it was £1300 but with my paying monthly it went to £1500 with works out at £125 per month, i did go on the compare sites etc but no one was cheaper than staying with Admiral

my renewal is due again at the end of next month, ive rang them up to see if they could give me a price but got to ring back on the 5th on march.

Surely i should be able to pay alot less than this, ive seen people who are say 20yr old, 3 points, 2 yrs NCB and are paying around 700 etc on a VTS.

i know there is a section with recomended insurance companies but will take forever to ring them all as the majority of them are not on compare sites.

So does anyone have any tips here or some really good companies i could contact as this year i want to get it below £1000 atleast!!

Thanks guys,

Karl.

The cheapest i got mine down to was through Flux Direct, roughly £400 cheaper than my renewal. Got mine down to £998 TTFT on a VTR with 2 Years No Claims and 27 Year Old.

They arent on comparison sites either

that does seem pretty bad. im 19 with 2 years ncb and it was about £750 a year fully comp for me on my VTS. elephant/admiral/bell always produce cheap quotes for me

Karl, with respect that is the exact reason you're getting the premiums you're obtaining quotes for. Companies on the compare website feed on lazy people like you who aren't prepared to put in a couple of hours work to hunt down a decent quote.

How do compare websites make their money? Through the insurers on the compare site. How do the insurance companies afford to pay the compare websites, by increasing the premiums to you.

Everyone's circumstances and therefore premiums are different. You have a list of insurers beyond those garbage compare sites. If you're not prepared to put in the leg work don't expect others to for you.

So an hour spent ringing round 4-5+ insurance companies, which will probably save £200+ isn't worth it?

Hell! If I could work for £200+ an hour I wouldn't turn my nose up at it.
