Hiya

Ive got a grinding/squeeking noise coming from my front wheels when breaking for traffic lights etc. and its happening on each rotation of the wheel.

Ive taken it to the garage and the bloke said it was the "sliders" needing to be cleaned and greased as the grit on the road knacks em up.

He done this and it stopped making the noise but a day later its bloody back.

I remember when i changed the disks and pads the bloke said there was alot of "stuff" on the calapers etc with the car being stood for ages and that the brakes were seased and had to be "loosened".

What im thinking of doing 2moro is taking the disks, pads and calapers off the car and attacking them with a wire brush and loads of copper grease, then changing the fluid.

What i would like to know is....is this easy to do? is there any guides on stripping a calliper down and cleaning it up! can i fuck this up? and if it has been seazed or is still seazed can they be rescued?

Also what do i need to be able to do the above? what fluid to i use?

Thanks in advance

it used to when i 1st got the car, but that was because the person didnt have vented breaks on the front and the disk was very thin.....its only started doing it for last few weeks

it could be the calliper is getting stuck when u hit the brake might just need some greese and work the calliper back and forth till its smooth in motion

just to inform you that wouldn't make a difference. Your best bet is to strip the front system give the lot a bloody good clean and the put back together with copper grease in the right places.

How tight is your peddle btw you could have a sticking caliper or have your pedal travel adjusted to tight

i dunno anything about the adjusters or anything, i just wana strip em down, give em a good clean, maybee even spray em to tidy em up and put em back on.....but back to my orig question, is this easy and is there any guides? can some1 give me some pointers as to what i do and also can i fuck this up?

Again what's your tightness/pedal travel like mate? If its really short/tight then odds are it might be causing the pistons to be stuck out cause your brakes to be 'on' slightly, I can talk you through where and how to sort it if it is but Odds are tho mate you just need copper grease on the back of the disk

The pedals about the same hight as clutch and has about same travel as every other car ive had, the noise isnt tehre all the time, only when im breaking light...its very embarising when im in a car park or something cos its pretty loud haha

Yea sounds like you just need grease mate, back of the pads and inbetween the disks and hub :y:

Ive Got the same problem
Ive Cleaned up the cailpers, Hubs,
Ive Changed Drop links, Top Strut Mounts and bearings, Wishbones, Track Rod Ends, Polly Brushed ARB Disc's and Pads, and Driveshafts and its still doing it.
It Only does it when you brake lightly now and again Normaily When the Engine is Warm. I ve got a feeling that it is the sliders that hold the caliper to the brake carryer Because when I removed the cailper as i unbolted it it made the same noise So I will remove the Slider tomorow and grease them with loads of copper grease and see if it stops making the noise
I will let you know...
