Has anyone had any experience with anything like this?

Or would you try it?

Its pretty straightforward to do, but you need to have some idea how best to go about it and have a canny touch, especially if youre using twill. I used polyfibre for most of my stuff before.

Youll need to consider UV sealants as well if youre going to leave it unpainted or the resin will discolour or go opaque like an old womans cataracts.

so, is that just like a wrap, but with weave rather than wrap, or is it more like wrap it around the product, remove product and have a full carbon piece to the same scale?

3M Di Noc wrap ftw.

Looks like some of their kits are for skinning over the top with a layer of carbon. They do a mould kit as well to make moulds (duh) then make full carbon replicas of whatever you moulded.

The kit you get from them is a pretty good kit. But without a vacuum pump and bag to get rid of all the air its always going to be a sub standard finish (I use fibreglass all the time at work and i find carbon really hard its more of a speciality).

As Tont's said for diy best way is 3m di-noc is the best looking. If you want real carbon then pay some one who knows what they are doing with the correct equipment to do it.

So OP, yes it works and is good but it's not as good quality as buying a professional one?

Not really no... doesn't fool anyone

Wetlay resin kits are good, but tricky if you have no experience with it
