thats quite alot
a reasonable price for a clutch fitted is £200
so a recon gearbox for £500 is fairly expensive
why not just buy a low mileage used one? can be had for less than £100 and you might surprised how long it will last you. I dont understand the fascination with people buying reconditioned parts all the time :S

dont forget that price is fitted. A garage would easily charge £200 labour for the work so that puts the recon box at £300 ish.
As said its a fair price really.
I would just find a second hand box and fit a new clutch kit

yeah 200 seems a decent price to remove and refit a clutch and gearbox. But that leaves £500 for the recon box hes on about.
where did you get £300 from?

I suppose they think its as good as new and would all be nice and tight. You could buy a low mileage gearbox but its had a hard life :(
£200 to remove a gear box and replace it? Well why the box is off you'd do the clutch for the sake of 10 minutes :S.

4 years ago i paid £200 for a clutch change which i thought was about right
200 without a new clutch included is a bit steep

I was breaking down your £500 including labour costs.

Id buy one of those rebuilt LSD equipped that were for sale on here for around the £500 mark then pay someone from here to fit it if you cant do it yourself. Sod a standard gearbox for that much cash!
