Is it possible to change the offside inner gater? If so how as didn't think the outer cv joints came off?
Any help appreciated

I take it you mean the one nearest gearbox? You dont remove the outer ones, the inner one is part metal, you have to unfold the lip and move the boot down, then there is a circlip inside, It's all quite clear when you get the new one. Mine seem to always be a bit of a pig to get on and fold the lip down.

I think the inner boots are around 10-15 quid cos of the size of it, and outer ones are a few quid, so if you can put the time in to do both sides would maybe cost you £40-50 and a morning's work. But im not sure about shaft prices, prob around £80 for a half decent one?

i would buy new oem gaitors and get stuck in,save money and learn something :) will last years using decent parts as a new shaft for £60 wont have such robust gaitors

Honestly i think £60 for a shaft is about as cheap as its going to get, and if your cv joints are in good shape i'd just do all the boots in one go, its not the worst job in the world, can treat yourself to some fresh gearbox oil whilst your at it as well lol.

Cheers for all the help guys think I'm guna do what's suggested and get two new boots. The original shafts have to be better quality than a new cheeper one. New gear oil sound like a good plan to :y:

£62 is a good price but i'd be questioning the quality tbh, still think you'd be better replacing the boots on the oe one if the joints are good.

i have just done inner and outer gaiters on my saxo vtr, easily done with the right tools. you can get the gaiters from

if you ring them up they also do the inner ones i think they cost me like £25 all in and are a perfect fit with no cutting etc. took me less than 2 hours to do all 4 aswell so get it done
