Decided I wanted a 328 sport a while ago but had to wait for my Clio to sell first. So with my clio away 2 weeks ago I set about looking for the bm. I couldn't find one in Scotland so travelled down to see one in central England, it turned out to have the nikasill block so I decided not to buy it.
My mate who also has a 328 sent me a link for one and sent an email to the seller on my behalf. He replied answering all the questions and it had the nikasil block replaced :D So I booked my train tickets and went and collected it from Blackpool yesterday.

Spec:
Artic silver
328i sport
94k
Bbs wheels all round incl spare
All the extras spec'd
All the mots
Only problems I can see are wear on the drivers seat, the bonnet has been resprayed and "one touch" on electric windows don't work but that's it!
It drives great and it looks like it came out the factory yesterday, think I'm going to keep it standard as it got all the things to make it a classic like BMW torch in glovebox, first aid kit still sealed, full tool kit, safety triangle etc only thing non standard is the cd player.
I'll get more pics in the next few days.

What's a nikasil block? lol
Car looks good too, this car, on staggered bbs lm's, dropped is perfection!

Very tidy buy mate! I hate those wheels though, some RC041 / 042's are needed :D
I'd like to replace the standard torche / first aid kit too, just not got round to it yet.
oh and the windows just need regreasing in the moving parts, mine were the same, it's a common problem.

Looks good dude..
Wheels look pap, you need some oem sport bbs splits.
Then you need a m50 inlet with bbtb, Dave f and a remap.
Then some coilovers
Then a pair of vaders
And a scorpion back box
Then your good

to add on to gibbo's post. theres a lad on e36coupe selling a K&N gen2 for £45. not as good as the daveF, but you'll save yourself near £100.
alternatively standard airbox with some debaffling and a decent filter has proven good!

Or wait a month or two and buy my Dave f and m50let ;)

Yeah been told about grease to fix the window problem.
I like the wheels and don't have enough money for others so they'll be staying I think.

Haven't been shitting money recently so doubt I'll have much off that list. Tbh I dont see the point in the Dave f induction kit considering its price, was toying with the idea of making a rep.

Not sure what mods I want yet, just going to change all the fluids and spark plugs then I'll get thinking upgrades :D
Good to see lots of people with knowledge of them on here and gibbo too :P

I'm guessing your already on e36coupe?
Another one I missed an possibly the best bang for buck would be a 3.15 LSD off a 3.0 m3 or even a 3.15 open diff off a 325, makes the car a lot more lively..
stupotvtr
6th March 2012, 20:50
Nah not on it yet but my mate has put a post up asking for a diff for me already. Saw your progress on it by chance today when my mate was showing me the site.

The m52 is a good engine for space..

Clio was a bit tight but looks like the m52 is a good design, oil filter right at front up top and just need to undo coils for spark plugs

The whole cars simple to work on IMO.
obviously harder than a french tin because it's put together well so you can't just pull things off lol, but in general, everything just seems to be in a more accessable place, and the design just seems a lot better thought out

It's on here, but I continued the vtr project thread with the bm instead of making another one. But I do need to update it a little. And I'm also on shed too.

Didn't realise so many people on here had them.

I got it off an older guy, well older than me about late 30s. His daughter was on x factor Emma wright or something. From the history I've got it's been around that sort of area for about the last 10 years.

Decided to buy miller oils xfs as it meets BMW standards and was quite cheap and some NGK plugs are in the post.

Just changed the oil and had the car up in the air for the first time. Only surprise under the car was how clean it was!

I went all the way to my local bm dealership to get a copper washer for the sump plug today only to find one in the oil filter box, then it looked like the filter was too big :( and it was 11pm so not like I could go get another one. But I persisted and it turned out to be a tight fit.
After looking about the car the only problem I found was that part of the exhaust heat shield was hanging down not bad for a 15 year old car!

The Beemer has developed a knocking noise from front drivers wheel :( inspected it the other day and it looks like a track rod end or ball joint. Only thing is the whole suspension could do with a refresh so I don't want to try and fit a new track rod end and disturb/break other parts in the process.
Really want new ball joints/wishbones, track rod ends, drop links and bushes. Need to get some money together first though!
Fitted some jbl gto components in the front and I've got a jbl sub and amp to install too. Also ordered a ground zero amp to run the speakers which should arrive tomorrow.

Looks in good nick Stu, must say, i never had you pegged as a BM man!
Very nice mate, another 328sport owner here :)
Great to see one as tidy as yours, you do need a M50 manifold though to liberate those horses :P
stupotvtr
12th June 2012, 15:22
Best car I've ever had Jason got to say I love it :D
Yeah an m50 manifold would be great but no major mods will be done till I get a full time job :(
Pagey was kind enough to let me borrow some of his poor boys wheels sealant so I took all the wheels off and sealed them inside and out.

Going to just put them on and wind them down till it looks good but is still very useable day to day.

Got the coilovers in the other day, really nice ride just as comfy as standard which wasn't expected. It sat to high on the rear adjusters so I removed them completely. Got a few pics last night

What you running 10mm o nthe front..?
Id look at 15-20 for the rears guessing those are 8j and oem offset.
EDIT: camber dosent help, mine dont sit right on a mix of spacers still where i run -3 camber :(
stupotvtr
15th July 2012, 15:10
20mm up front, 8j front and rear offset is et47 I'm thinking 15mm and if it rubs I can get them machined down. I've not adjusted the camber just left it as is.
MiniGibbo
15th July 2012, 15:17
Yeah oem sized rims.
id look at 25's on the back in that case. You want a bigger spacer out back than at the front...

Decided I needed some 6 cylinder noise in my life so decided to go to chizfab for a custom back box. Chizfab specialise in bm's and drift cars and are fabricators so knew it would be in good hands. Decided to go for twin 3" inward rolled tail pipes with it all fully tig welded.
Took the car over for an inspection a week before the work just to make sure noting else would need ordered before the job went ahead. When Kyle the mechanic was talking to me he was saying how he hasn't seen an e36 as clean as mine in years :D
Dropped the car off for the exhaust on Wednesday and picked it up the same night, I kind of arrived early so watched the exhaust being welded up as it was only tacked together when I arrived. It sounds just right! Not to loud and doesn't drone but is loud enough when you boot it! The other mechanic also mentioned to me when I was in about how good condition the car was and apparently a regular customer who's had in the region of 10-15 e36s also commented on it :D
