Im in a little bit of a predicament

Theres a 2000 MGF with 58000 miles for sale, its tax runs out in 2months, and MOT in NOV.

its only 500squid and reckon I could get it down to 400

Trouble is.... I have an astra at the moment which I was thinking of selling anyway...

Is it wise to buy a car before selling mine? Ive never had 2 cars at once, double insurance, double tax etc

My mum said she'd insure it so thats that problem out the way.

Trouble is I dont know much about MG's and 500squids sounds too cheap but market value is worth about 800 in good cond'

Ahhhhh decisions!

They're great along side a Saxo, makes a saxo look bullet proof.

my dad has a TF 160 (technically his GFs), and he said its by far the worst car he has ever owned. horrendously unreliable, rusts whilst you are looking at it, shockingly bad gearbox, very steep servicing considering

having said that, its undoubtably a pretty car, and the 160 certainly shifts

The rover bandwagon always makes me laugh..

If i bought a £50 saxo that had never been serviced, could i then slag off every citroen becuase theyre fucking shit and always brake down?

no, but if, like my dads gf, you bought it brand new in 2004, had it replaced within 6 months due to engine failure, then have spent in excess of £5k since on servicing work despite doing 20,000 miles in it since new, i think you have a right to complain

and that is why i brakes.

just like them all. every rover/mg we have in at work hasn't even done 50k yet. driven by old people. who fart more times than drive their cars.

the biggest thing is they never got warm.

and saying that had a 206 with 40k on the clocks and the headgasket had gone on that.
and correct me if i'm wrong but the 1.1/1.4 alloy engines in the saxo are common for headgaskets.

i'll admit the TF isn't a brilliant car in it's own rights. love how they converted it to RWD just by putting some old metro cv joints in the hub and bolting them up.

we've had alot more french cars with problems in at work than rovers. even more bmw (mostly 3 series) so can't be that bad

if it was a good car they might have done some miles in it

if it was a good car they might have done some miles in it

why keep it and spend 5k on fixing it then??

Hope u enjoy the car mate but personally after driving one I would never ever buy one gearbox is awful, always break (apparently),head gaskets are common and the engine is a pig to work on I would have a mx5 over one any day.
