Quick question,
Do the cars you have down for personal use have to be in yours/business' name or can someone else be on the logbook
I understand each policy probably has different terms but just curious of peoples experiences :) ta

I had one, I used quote me today, didn't need business name or anything, or proof I was in motor trade, just told them I buy and sell cars. Gave me it there and then.

It doesn't matter who's name they're in with mine, I can drive any car I want except cossies. If the car is in my possession for more than 14 days I have to let them know, and I can have up to 10 named cars on the policy..

im glad you get what i meant :D lol
so on yours, someone else can own the car but you can have it on as your personal car, not just one youve got in for over 2 weeks?

14 days from car being registered to you, it has to be declared on the MID (motor insurance database). No limit on how many cars we can have, insured on anything up to £150k at the minute, guess that covers most french cars lol

Surely every policy is different, wouldn't it make more sense to ask whoever your policy is with?

I know you mentioned it in your post but how can other experiences help you when they're all likely to be different.

I bought my car but put my mums name on the logbook, and then put the car on her companies insurance so it is like a company car I guess. It means me and my mum are insured on it, and I pay £1300 a year. Bearing in mind I'm 18 with no NCB, it isn't too shabby.

id like to learn more about traders policys aswell as my mates dad runs a garage which only repairs porches , merc's , audis and he works for his dad he is 18 and he has a corsa vxr , and a 2011 audi tt rs ( the tt was a present for his 18 off his dad ) he says he doesnt have to pay insurance as it just goes on the companies so its basicly free to him.

But you only get trade value if you crash it.

im on traders - i have a few limitations though, the vehicle cant be worth more than a million quid. if it is, i have to ask the owner for his permission and he has to agree (strange how that makes a difference)

other than that, i can drive it so long as its between 8am-8pm.

downside is though - a traders insurance wont show up on the boys in blues database! so expect to get pulled over. hurhurhur.

Only if you haven't added it officially. You have to add them after apx 14 days. My mate didn't do this and he ended up not being insured after he crashed it.
