Hello! Before I start I just have to say that I am not THAT good with cars nor is English is not my first language, so if the explanations are vague... Well... Then I will try to explain it better.

I have a Citroen Saxo 1998 1.1l petrol car and I am having some major problems with the head lights and tail lighs on my car.

The first thing I noticed was that the low beam (from the head lights) did not turn on when I started the car like they always used to do, and neither did the tail lights.

When I turn the knob to turn on the lights, the head lights starts working both with low beam and high beam, but the tail lights and license plate light does not work. The lights in the dashboard works, but not the background lighting.

The strange thing is, that if I have the low beam turned on and stop the engine then suddenly everything works just fine... Dashboard is on, tail lights are ok, and license plate lights too... But when I turn on the ignition, they stop working.

I have checked every single fuse in the car and changed 1 that was blown/melted, but it still doesnt work. I suspect there is some kind of relay that is broken, but I don't even know where to start looking for the problem.

I have no idea if this is relevant, but the "key recognition system" is not working very well... So when I put in the key and turn on the ignition, the yellow key-light just blinks and I will have to try again, and again... My record is 25 minutes of "Take key out, put key in, twist.. rinse and repeat"

If there is something vague here, please tell me and I will try my best to explain things better. All help is greatly appreciated!

I have checked the one under the bonnet and the one in the back of the car, and one near the fusebox inside the car. If there are more, I don't know about them.

Try replacing the light switch stalk, sometimes they break down causing a bad connection mate.

But when I turn on the ignition, without starting the car, all the lights work... To me it doesn't seem logical that it is the switch stalk. And trying to get used spare-parts in Norway on a french car... Almost impossible. :P

Tomorrow I am going to buy a shitload of fuses and change every single one.

Err... scrap that. I am tired. =0P
When I turn OFF the ignition, but still have the light switched on so the buzzer goes of, the lights work just fine.

So, I have gotten the problem fixed now. It turned out it was indeed two faulty relays... It was the small ones in the fusebox under the hood of the car. Now I have to wait for them to be ordered from France... >.<
