mirror caps

i got one posi blue one from a scrappy, and just got a silver one from another, how would i go about respraying the silver one to posi blue. in a nutshell?? i know it would be easier and probably cheaper to buy one offline or to hunt about, but would like to challenge myself as iv never painted with primer, laquer before, can i buy posi blue paint from halfords or any known shop? i know that painting mirror caps are hardly a da vinci. but would like to try it ?

nothing wrong with having a go mate.
you'll need a tin of plastic primer. a tin of posi blue and a tin of laquor
some wet and dry paper.
some form of degreasing/ panel wipe.

you want to degrease first.
then sand the silver back untill the shine has been taken away and is smooth.
prime
let to tack off
prime again x2
sand the primer back. (only light dusting.
few coats of top coat.
and a few coats of laquor

of course you can flat the primer/ topcoat between coats. but personally i would get a few coats on there. flat back then add a few more.
due to can paints being really thin. but up to u

Just to add if the laquer doesnt go on very flat dont panic. You can used t cut to flatten it back until you are happy with the finish...

followed this mate and they've came out like brand new, if not better, fair do's to halfords their paint is pretty spot on like. thats again for the wee guide mate. if i could rep you i would :y:

painted them all now, look the dogs tbh, will not be totally convinced until theyve been on the car for a while and see if they peel or bubble. hope not.

anyway what would be the best thing to stick them to the car, apart from tigerseal, heard a few people say that they used regular sealent and they stuck, would normal sealent work or failing that might get super glue, fuck playing 15 quid for something to hold down bits of plastic?

As said you can use normal sealent. I used some sort of cheap, shitty silicone sealer and that was about a year ago and they're well and truely on there, need to take one of them off to re-spray it as i chipped it on somebody elses wing mirror :homme: but can;t get the fuckers off. Think the stuff i used was 49p from Wilkinsons..
