Well I've bought my new summer toy, hoping to keep this one a while though:
67,000 miles
Full Carbon Fibre kit
Alcantara Steering wheel
Lowered but not sure how much
Other than that completely standard.
Hope you like

Lovely car but I prefer silver wheels on this colour
How much was it if you don't mind me asking

You can't buy the kit you have to buy them all seperately, I worked it all out and someone has shelled out nearly £2,000 for the Carbon fibre,
This car was up for sale about a year ago for £6,500 with silver wheels then and no tints, since then it's only covered another 3,000 miles and got black wheels now, I paid just under £5,500 ;)

Yeah I'm not too keen on them, they only have budget tyres so I might save for some Rota slipstreams and sell the standard ones.

Really fairplay always thought they were 8v for some reason.
4 valves per cylinder makes sense.
There decent cars heres my pals, get a miltek ;)

Yeah I fancy a Miltek, it really gives you an idea how expensive exhausts are for a mini when the Miltek is the cheapest system :(

Cheers Gandi, I was tempted with another Clio but fancied something different.
Yeah I will do, ideally I'd want a 17% pulley but I want to save until I can get a better intercooler.

Looks smart and seems like a pretty good price as well! As said new mats and wheel colour is needed. The blue leather on the seats seems a little out of place as well?
Such nice, well built cars!

haha hey Dan, yeah I remember you,
I've actually still got manic motors car lol, it's still sitting in my garage collecting dust.
I think a lot of people will move onto Mini's, they are very tuneable and you can get them quite cheap now.
I've been on MiniTorque a while I'm called Aly, I'm in the process of begging Dave.F for one of them hybrid induction systems, he says he has 2 left, fingers crossed :D

Yeah I'm not keen on the blue interior either or even the blue carpet, I can fix the way the leather comes away from the seat there's a guide to fixing it somewhere I've read it before.
Yeah I love them seats! It's going to be hard because my back seats are blue and black as well so not sure if they will match lol.
Love the look of yours, don't see many in white I actually wanted one in that colour a while back because you don't see many.
simmo
17th March 2012, 10:45
Aly you can spray leather seats to change the colour so just dye the back ones black to match the fronts ;)
Just signed up on mini torque as the mrs. has an r56 cooper.

Yeah a fair whack though for them buckets. Think I can kiss goodbye to my weekends for a while in order to pay for all the bits I want. Its so difficult to find anything to buy on the spur of the moment for this. A couple of hundred quid gets you fuck all :p
Yeah cheers! Fell in love with it straight away. So nice to drive. I'm not missing not being able to plug my ipod in at the moment just so I get to hear it whine :D :sweetheart:

Dave f is a big flop tbh mate, its a glorified standard airbox, with a bit of pipe on the end and a k&n filter, u can make them urself for pence.
ive got a m7 on mine, its just the same as the dave f but with a bigger filter and makes more noise but has the same gains as the dave f lol

Thanks for comments people.
Well I've had the car nearly a week and I love it.
It's actually not too bad on the fuel if you drive it sensibly.
My first mod was to fit a Dave.F Hybrid intake, these are much sought after on the Mini forums and it's improved the throttle response and made the Supercharger louder:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/IMG_2081.jpg
I then fit some NGK Iridium spark plugs:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/IMG_2082.jpg
Today I gave it a wash, it really needs a machine polish it's swirled all over, not the best pictures it's very sunny today and took on my iPhone, also lovely weather today

I miss mine, although dont miss the fuel economy!
The popping of the exhaust sounds mint, but is fake/artificial - you can turn it on and off with a laptop and cable. Its one of the reasons they are shit on fuel, the ecu dumps fuel on overrun to make it sound nice.
Got a phone call at 10 O'clock this morning saying there was a VW Owners rolling road day at PD Tuning.
So went along to watch and was encouraged to put the Mini on, this is the first car that I've ran on 95 since I thought using Vpower or BP Ultimate wouldn't make much difference.
Here are the results:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/33a0bd28.jpg
The dyno operator said the filter is helping but the torque has gone down, he said using a higher octane would bring the torque figure up and might improve the power.
It's a good power base to work from and the best thing is it's a very smooth graph which is good.
Jamie
1st April 2012, 21:47
Higher octane does seem to make cars more responsive. Forgot how much, I filled up the 180 few days back because there was no cheap shit and it made a noticeable difference. Now I know why I used to fill the ST up to the brim with the stuff!
Nice figure bang on the book iirc?

They are 163bhp and 155lb/ft. I think by using the 95 the ECU is holding the car back at low rpm's. Hopefully with 98 the filter might allow the engine to push a little harder low down.
The power is nice but I am gutted slightly about the torque figure but I did expect this because low down it is pretty flat right now.

Charger is soooo loud on the dyno. Good base to start from. Hunt for more power now.
I'm still finding it hard to comment anything seriously when you have a BATTY reg.
Kind regards,
Cal
Cant disagree with you. It does say batty lol
Couldnt help thinking that the engine moves around far too much and at speed made it sometimes difficult to change gear. My top engine mount looked past it and had a lot of play.
Read a lot of guides on how to fit it and set about it today.
The torx bolt underneath was the only bit i got stuck on. Mine felt like it was welded in but i got a bit of heat on it and it come right off.
With the new mount on now it feels like a new car. Even just cruising feels very smooth.
Heres some pictures.
I gave myself loads of access to make removing the mount easier. Removed the wheel and first part of wheel arch liner:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/46467aff.jpg
Then set about removing it. Once removed the horror was uncovered:

A comparison between new vs old:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/cc3fb807.jpg
A little video to show how much play it had. Excuses the sniffles I have a really bad cold :(

I really like the way it drives with the Eibach's on, isn't too crashy over bumps and I like the height.
A little bit of camber:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/IMG_2216.jpg

Got a KAVS 17% Reduced Supercharger pulley to fit
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/IMG_2230.jpg
I've ordered a GP Intercooler and cover from Mini, it's in stock now and I'm collecting that on Tuesday.

Well after 5 months of ownership I'm loving the Mini.
Love the way it drives and the sound it makes.
Hoping to get the Reduced Pulley fitted soon.
Current Spec:
-Full JCW Carbon Fibre kit, Interior and Exterior
-Dave.F Hybrid Intake K&N
-GP JCW Intercooler
-Eibach Sportline 30mm Springs.
-Toyosport 2.5" Stainless Exhaust
Hoping once the pulley is on I will be running about 220bhp and about 180lb/ft.
Hoping to get it fitted in the next 2 weeks.
Gave it a wash today and went to the Quayside for a few pictures. Not that good was too dark but a nice place to take pictures.

Always liked these when kept near standard like yours :y:. Most of them I see get ruined (well the coopers/ones) by cunts painting checks on the roof and limegreen mirrors etc. Theres a red S that lives down the road from me with black alloys, looks and sounds amazing. WANT.
Also get away from riverside. :homme:

Thanks Chez,
Well I've raced two Focus ST's one that left me for dead (which I assumed must have been mapped quite a bit) and another that was standard which I left for dead.
It's more relentless pull than the 'punch' you get from a Turbo.

Who are you getting to do the mapping when you put the pulley on aly? Do you just get a generic map on them when you it it? Or do you get them live mapped?
Chez is that GP red?

You don't necessarily need a remap when you fit the reduced pulley, but it is advised to get it rolling roaded and check that the fuelling isn't running too lean on full throttle near the red line.
With a 17% Pulley I will be hitting nearly 18psi boost and the standard 340cc Injectors are almost at their maximum.
A lot of people have run the 17% pulley and had no problems with the standard injectors and some people have found it can run very lean, it's usually the people who run a standard intercooler who have the problems.
Most people say with the 17% you shouldn't hit the redline anyway as the peak power is about 6,700rpm and peak torque is around 4,500 so makes it perfect for gear changes.
Also blackie all GP's are Dark Silver same colour as mine, I actually drove through Birtley yesterday and saw a lovely GP driving past Maxwells DIY next to Carcraft.
Cooper S drivers always get a smug look from GP drivers :homme:

PD Tuning will map just about anything, just not sure I would trust them.

An Eaton M45 is about £1,400 new for the non teflon coated one.
If you buy a used one I would definitely take it apart and upgrade the gears inside it (they fail and it's easy to change off the car).
I bought my pulley from 1320 Mini.

Don't think I would trust pd tuning either haha
I'll be organising an RR day for after Trax at Evotune, if you get it sorted in time bring it down, if it's out he'll map it for about £300, he's good

Evotune probs the best rollers in the north east, most pol just get upset when their car reads a little under haha, thing is ppl often get mapped on quote me happy rollers and then cry when they see an accurate reading lol, always seen bang on or very near for cars that expected it, always seen it highlight probs with cars that have them (including mine the first time)
John you wont come! ;)
Defo worth a look down if you can get sorted I time aly
Edit- or even if you don't, there's regular days down there.. So be good to see what gains you've actually had from the pulley when you do get it on

Going to update this.
Car has been garaged for 4 months now, took it out the other day and it's feeling very sorry for itself:
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/2AEE8647-4284-4D70-BA73-6897A22772F0-3561-000003CD73618E70.jpg
Starts great and feels brilliant miss driving it so much.
Anyway I checked my bank the other and surprised after Christmas and New Year how much money I have saved up, so I'm definitely taking my Mini to the Nurburgring.
Pre Ring Prep;
- Need 4 new tyres, front two are OK but rears are on the limit and they are budget runflats. I would like to change to Pro Race 1.2's with new tyres and sell standard wheels but want to keep costs low.
- Need 4 new discs all mine look like the originals, also want some EBC Green stuff pads
- Fit my 17% reduced pulley, going to buy the Alta Pulley and fit it myself, read a comprehensive guide and you pretty much can't fail with the Alta puller and they are only £50, apparently they are a 'one use' puller since you strip the thread when using it.
Styling wise I want to pretty much leave it as it is but saw someone on Mini Torque with a carbon fibre spoiler and decided I really want one, I love the carbon that's on mine now but I think too much can be overkill, currently I have:
Boot trim
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/IMG_2218.jpg?t=1336328555
Mirror caps
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/IMG_2219.jpg?t=1336328587
Full dashboard piece, JCW steering wheel, JCW hand brake, JCW gear stick with ring and carbon fibre cup holder rings
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/IMG_2224.jpg?t=1336328683
Bonnet scoop
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o136/aly05189/f15f15b0.jpg?t=1344276723
This is what I am thinking of buying, it's a genuine Carbon fibre spoiler, it's the facelift design that sits flat to the boot lid instead of raise up like mine on the earlier ones which I prefer, what are peoples opinions?

See only time I've ever used Mintex 1144's on track was my 106 GTI, what I always found was they had a brilliant initial bite but then on hard braking the strength wore out and I don't want that in a much heavier Mini :panic:
My brakes are a weird size like 273mm so not the biggest but a decent pad size, so EBC Yellow one's to go for? People on MT always say the Green are decent and then say Ferrodo DS2500 so confused haha

Yellow are 1144/ds2500 level and work very well
Im using redstuff atm and theyre shit when cold but warmed up they dont fade
Had ds3000 in my octavia lolz
Or look at the cl range for rc5+
Id go either yellows ds2500 or rc5+ on a road use quick car

Looks good Aly,
Too much CF can be easily overkill however since your car is a similar shade it's not that bad. The spoiler is probably the last item I'd be buying in CF exterior wise if I were you.
Also, your foot wells are grim lol, shouldn't let them get like that :P.
I'd also possibly go for sportier grills, seen some sporty black ones make them look aggressive compared.

You need to spend a bit if you want them to go fast but they handle amazing even in their standard form.

Cheers Glen, I must say the red calipers do look a bit chav now so I will be repainting them.
Only thing you will regret is the fuel economy everything else on them is perfect.

Been to look at one myself today, black 54 plate 70k plenty of extras £4750, like a whole different ball park inside to the saxo i have been used to so now deliberating it sat at home, yours looks amazing and there are some great ones on this site too.
Should i shan't i!
And on the MPG front, they do around 28-30 town? I'm no MPG whore but i don't mind that kind of milage lol, hows tours drink ally? Does a reduced pulley make it get even worse.

They are thirsty mate, I owned one for 4 years. Not too bad at motorway speeds but round town not great.
Sound immense, pop/burble etc so it's whether you can justify it. I couldn't in the end just for work etc. Got a golf gt tdi now, remapped so 200ish bhp but I do miss the mini at times.
As guide price, sold mine for 5k - 65k miles, fsh and every possible extra from factory. 04 plate.

Cheers bud, price is fair from what i have seen around, some real good ones and some dogs too just got to search for the right bargain!
MPG isnt a massive concern and isnt used for commuting, merely fun and domestic use, which is how i came to be looking at them, lovely things to be inside too.

54 Plate is good because it will be a face lift so will have the gearbox with better ratio's, will have a teflon coated charger which are stronger and has an updated ecu. They are slightly worse on the juice but have a much better throttle response.
I used to put a tank of Vpower in would cost me £65 to fill it that would last me the whole week and It would cover about 330miles about the same as my Clio 172. Facelifts get about 4mpg less than pre face lift but it's worth it, they are lovely cars to drive so easy infact and very predictable when you chuck them.

Mine is on 79k 2 previous owner BMW backed up service history but I don't have many extra's on mine. My list of extras are:
- Full JCW Carbon fibre kit Interior + Exterior
- Black painted roof and spoiler
- BMW Mini Rubber mats
- Black and Blue leather
- Convenience Umbrella
- Tool kit
Mine doesn't even have lights in the sun visors or mood lighting or lights under the doors, non A/C model which is rare on cooper s's too.

To be fair, i never drive far anyway, 2 miles a day to pick my mate up and go to the gym then drop him off.. Maybe once a fortnight trip to Boro, or Scarborough, and maybe once every 2 or 3 moths go up to Newcastle to my mates for a night out.. Not covering any major miles for it to bother me..
As long as long runs cover over 30mpg, I'd be happy!

has to be the facelift r53 simply for the charger and the different map they had for the extra pops etc, its built into the ecu and is actually a feature bmw incorporated which would explain the worse mpg.

i see a couple of you interested in cooper s'... mine will be for sale in September ;);)
I'm thinking of selling mine too Tom :( i know seems strange after buying the TD's but I can't justify owning it no more. It's a shame there's nothing wrong with it at all.
