View Full Version : painting a bulb

I believe I need to paint my indicator bulb green as my lights are now red and so are my indicators.
Whats the best paint for the job? Stained glass pain? High Temperature? Or can I just buy a green bulb?
It looks exactly how I wanted at least just is now of questionable legality (with the answer being "no that's illegal").
Thanks

That makes no sense, you need to paint them green because your lights are red?

Having searched him..He's sprayed his rear light unit red, were it used to be white/clear...I pressume the indicators now glow red as will reverse? Still doesn't explain the green...
And in answer to the question, buy a green bulb? would be alot cheeper/easier then buying the spray for one I'd imagine

He's thinking the green bulb will appear orange and not red. Surely at least one of you realized that's what he meant?! No idea if it will work mind

doesnt matter what colour bulb he puts in still going to look red, by painting it red hes turned it in to a red light filter only lets red light through

Retards, when you have all red rear lights you put a green indicator bulb in to make them flash orange!
OP is speaking sense unlike most bellends on here.
Same with reverse altough not sure what colour it has to be changed too. Stops it from going pink instead of white.

Thank you. I did do research before painting it, and the consensus was that it needed to be painted green. Obviously not many people have done this but thank you for not calling me a retard!

exactly this! lol
funny how everyone jumps on the bandwagon when they simply dont know
there is no logic behind why a green bulb behind a red lense flash orange but it seems so work so ive read on various forums.
No idea how you'd go about painting a bulb though lol dont want it painted to thick or light wont travel through it, just buy a green bulb?

You can buy bulbs that are allready green so you don't have to paint them.
As manu linked you to just make sure they're the right fitment.

Exactly this! Love how there are loads of 'clever' people giving it the large!! Hence why at scrappies you see cars with green indicator bulbs where the rear lights have been smashed!!!

the solid colours red and green make brown unsurprisingly but as light beams when they cross it makes yellow/orange
think I saw Tony Hart do it
