Anyone been travelling? Me and a good mate are looking to go to aussie land and n z next march just wondering on prices flights etc we are planning to go for 3 months live out of a backpack and stop in hostels any hints or tips off anyone would be appriciated :)

i went a couple of years ago. amazing place. you will need to have somwhere to stay sorted before you get there ie a hotel or placce to stay for immigration purposes. prices for hostels depend where you go. i got with another traveller and it worked out cheaper for us to get hotel rooms instead of hostels-flashpacking. a popular trick is to get a overnight coach from one place to another so you dont pay for a nights accommodation. i thought it seemed a bit pikey for the sake of about 20 bucks but it depends on your budget.
i originally planned for 6 weeks but ended up there for 3 months. if you are going to do that i suggest you look into getting a working visa and an open ended flight ticket.

had about 15 or so of my mates do out to Aussie in the last few years, got 5 of them living out there at the minute. Biggest expense by far is gonna be the cost of actually getting there!

i paid 1550 for: flight to singapore and 3 nights in a hotel, flight to perth and 8 nights in a hostel, flight toalice springs and 2 nights in a hotel, flight to melbourne then a flight from cairns to singapore and from singapore to london. my original idea was to work my way up the east coast frm melbourne to sidney to brisbane to cairns, i also went on my own. that way i could do what i wanted when i wanted. if i got bored of somwhere i just left the next day.

my brother went to oz about 5 weeks ago, staying in sydney but is finding it very hard looking for work as there is hardly anything, coming back next week.
cost him about £670 to get out there.
our cousins are there too, but they been travelling all over the world for the past 2-3 yrs.

i stopped at singapore for 3 days. just dont eat the frogs head porridge. does what it says on the tin...
