alternator/battery problem!!!

driving home last night, in the middle of leeds the stereo suddenly stopped working - didnt think anything of it.

went for petrol and the car wouldnt restart, just got a "tick" from the starter.
lights worked still, just a little bit dim.

First thought was the battery - got a fully charged one dropped off and the car started and ran fine, so i got home safe.

turned the engine off and it wouldnt start. same problem again. Leading me to now think that the aternator is fucked and isnt charging the battery.

Are there any wires prone to breaking that i should check first or is it just time to fork out 2bill for a new alternator?

Just get a multi meter and stick it straight on the alternator output that'll tell you if it's that or a broken cable :y:

The main cable going to the alternator broke on mine a while back, so check that (broke at the alternator so just needed a new O ring connector clamping to the wire, job done)

Think ive got a multi meter in the tool box.

what was the outcome, i have the same problem, changed alternator so am thinkin i need a new battery
