It's happened before where people have collapsed mid game for unknown reasons and sadly died despite being in perfect health.
A sad day for all sports fans if Muamba doesn't pull through.

In the case of Marc Vivien foe it was a sudden heart attack brought on from exercise, but was a condition which wasn't known about at the time.

Hope he pulls through but not looking good at all, the medics were on the pitch for 10 minutes and he apparently still wasn't breathing when he went down the tunnel.

Sounds like he had undiagnosed Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS)
You don't realise you have it until its too late. He's in the right place at least. If you're going to have a heart attack you want to be there.

I just can't see how it's possible to come back from that. I hate to say it but it would be a fucking miracle if he pulled through to survive any length of time.
Never experienced a person to have a cardiac arrest (multiple times) outside of hospital and survive to live a normal life.
I hope to god he makes it. :(

It's good to hear they managed to resuscitate him finally, after trying for 10 minutes on the pitch and the whole way to the ambulance. Glad they got him back when they did or he would have ended up a vegetable :/
He's stable in hospital at the moment.

The only thing is at least in this case the medical team were there right away, it wasnt a case of a normal person needing to wait for an ambulance etc.
As I understand with most situations like this speed of care is of the upmost importance.

Yep. But you still don't have access to all the drugs you would have readily available in the hospital. CPR obviously helps, but as I understand it his heart stopped again multiple times on the pitch and when they took him down the tunnel he still wasn't breathing. No idea if a pulse was present.
I doubt they would carry epinephrine at the touch line which is the drug he needed if he had PEA as I suspect. :S

Medics at music events I cover I know carry drugs to inject into the heart (well according to what they told me when someones did a couple of years ago). Id expect at a stadium the size of a premier league club there to be very good medical care.
All in all we are just guessing at this stage over what is a tragic event, but at least we can presume he had the best care available at the time

Oh without a doubt, I'm sure he reciwved fantastic care. All I know is a paramedic cannot give ephedrine it has to be a doctor.
But anyway. I'm listening out for news and praying he pulls through.

Football games in London, (big ones at least) have a London Ambulance presence, paramedic will be on scene so will be able to do ALS, give drugs.
If he stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest then, initailly the crew would attempt to get output before moving him further.

If you mean Adrenaline (epinephrine), then a paramedic can give it as part of the ALS.

Suppose that depends on the likelyhood of this happening again. I would have probs said he won't which is v unfortunate at only 23. Could have been me, makes you think!

Categorically no. That's it for football.
If he pulls through I would imagine his life will be drastically different.
Ah Quick, I had hoped you would post. Anything on a standard crash trolley I guess you can give then?
Bloody lucky there was a cardiologist in the stadium too. I'm hoping all this means it wasn't his time.

You don't just randomly have a cardiac arrest at 23 years old as a professional athlete.
There will be some underlying genetic cause that he was unaware of.
I'm listening out for updates, I have a friend who works at the hospital he went to, thankfuly for his family she said there has been a complete lock down re: leaking info.

Im just going by the statement the hospital released. As you said, you dont just have Heart Attacks etc at 23 year old for nothing, they were basing it on high levels of adrenaline??

This isn't in anyway meant to be racist or cause offence. However it is known African males are more likely to suffer from underlying heart conditions as opposed to white males. Its highly likely Fabrice has a condition he was born with, yet undetected. Nobody at the age of 23 who exercises the way Fabrice would, should have a heart attack.
The heart is a muscle, exercise increases that muscles strength. It is highly likely the heart muscle was weak from birth or another underlying medical issue which caused this unfortunate event.

Bullshit, the healthiest of people can still have heart attacks from a number of reasons, high blood pressure for example.
