Wheres the best place these days, just checked autotraders prices and nearly choked £36 is a fucking piss take for 2 weeks on the website tbh. Pistonheads charges now too
Is there anywhere left thats free apart from the shite places like gumtree?
The whole reason I'm selling it is cause I'm skint due to moving house and havent got a small fortune to waste on ads :panic:

Gumtree is actually really good, have sold a couple of cars on there which was better than pistonheads and other car forums. Also depends what car your trying to sell.

To be honest i never had much luck with pistonheads, with bikes or cars, i just seemed to get idiots offering me stupid swaps involving dogs and stuff lol. Soon as i used biketrader/autotrader i managed to sell within a week or 2. Local paper's are a lot cheaper but you're obviously not getting such a broad range of people viewing your ad.

Yeah I tried gumtree a few years ago with a cheap car and got inundated with either piss poor offers or people wanting to swop shite for it.
I may aswell give it another go as its free but was just wondering where was popular/cheap these days, just looking now its full of sub £2000 cars so I doubt im going to have much luck selling mine lol

wherever you advertise youll get the knobs making silly offers/swaps
gumtree as said is crap unless your selling a shitter
ebay,everyone wants it for nothing!
autotrader is your best bet tbh i mainly use them now and as said i also sell them within a week or 2 on there
just do a decent add with plenty of pics etc!
if your that skint you could try the tactic of missing a digit off the offical price that gets displayed and then just put it first thing in the ad
eg
megane r26 £495..........
****PRICE WAS MENT TO BE £4995***
however they have started clamping down a bit more now so you may get the add pulled as its a known way to get the adversing for sub 1k prices £9,99

As a buyer I don't bother with gumtree. All I've ever seen is nails that people don't look after, hence why they can't afford to advertise it properly. Maybe not always the case but from a buyers perspective I doubt you'll get much genuine interest.
I've sold a car an 5 bikes through eBay. All sold for good money but all bar one were put with a buy it now and make an offer. In every case but one someone phoned me, came round and bought it outside of eBay. The first person to view everything I've sold has bought it. I think that's because I do a massive writeup including everything your likely to want to know and a sensible price. I take lots and lots of good pictures with a nice background and clean car/bike. With the bikes I opened a Flickr account and put up 50-70 photos showing everything then a link to them in the add.
Each car an bike went on pistonheads and I never got so much as an email. Luckily it's free for me but I wouldn't bother paying.
With the saxo I'll be using eBay/autotrader. I don't like autotrader as I can't do a massive writeup on it :/.

Gumtree
Ad trader
If your stuck with it then eBay
Don't bother with anything else, if it don't sell on the first 2 your either asking too much or it's an utter pill

i think the same. i also often search for cars within a certain price bracket, so it wouldnt appear at all for me

Cheers for the feedback, think im just going to go with ph and ebay, £25 in total isnt bad.
£10 for the ph ad and £15 for an ebay classified as theres no final value fees in classified's, compared to the £35 final value fees on buy it now's and auctions...

i agree with the OP, the prices that websites are charging has gone up and as a result more people have been put off and are now using gumtree.
gumtree is a good website though and it wont be long until they start to charge like PH
