Hello guys, back in november I had an air lock in my rad system. This resulted in my car getting very hot quick. I bled the whole system and had a new thermostat fitted, this seemed to fix the problem but now it's come back again.. I've bled it again but do you have any ideas as to why it's come back? Went and had the head gasket checked and they are sure it's not that..also the car has only done 50,000 miles

Okay makes sence that would let air get in, but I don't seem to lose any water? So next step replace the rad? thanks for the reply

i didn't loose water either. it was a small hole at the top. now and again when the engine had just been turned off i could hear a faint hiss coming from it

Okay going to check that out. Did you have the same problem then? And how much would a new rad set me back?

yes i had the same problem. i got an absolute minter of a 16v rad from the scrappy for £20. i don't think i would pay any more than that for second hand. brand new ones are around £30 iirc. it might not even be the rad in your case. but i would definately check around the system for any leaks. could even be a perished hose?
