mine does too, think its just how saxos are, older fiats are the same too. If it still slots into gear fine i wouldnt worry. If you do still worry, try replacing the pin in the gear linkage, theres loads of feeds on it

yeah mines the same, took it in the garage and they checked it and said theres nothing wrong with it, only starts becoming a problem when the linkage wears more and its hard to get gears

It's wear in the gear box roll pin 80p or wear in the linkages about £15 each and there are 3 or wear in the selector ball£30 replace them in that order mate and that will sort it

isn't it a bitch of a job though ? ( roll pin ). I'd like it done as I know my Saxo needs it, but don't wanna pay loads for labour to fit a 50p part. Mine has enough play to make it difficult to get into third sometimes.

where from?

go to your main citroen or peugeot dealer and ask for a gearbox roll pin, i bought one last week. citroen could only sell them in a bulk of 10 so went to pug and bought 1, only cost 41p :) so bought 2 (a spare one)
