Mine have suddenly started working without the ignition on, and the battery drains over night. I assume there is something else as well.
Any ideas on what could cause this? im thinking a short circuit or a bad earth, but i have no idea where to start looking.

could be a faulty ignition switch mate if the windows only work when its on and now they do it when its off i would start at your ignition dont seam like its cutting off properly .

+1 to the above & i`d disconnect the battery each night until the problem is sorted.

can be a pain, you lose your stereo settings each tmie. I'd remove the power window fuse?
It could also be a moisture problem, very frequent in this season. Try to heat up the ignition barrel with a hair dryer for 10 minutes or so, see if it fixes it.
