Anyone used this ?

Checked mine and its all clear, went to by a car today, turns out it had done 62000 miles in 2006, and they have clocked it back to 40000 to this date.

Needless to say i didnt buy it.

Any of your cars been clocked then ?

Not a new thing, most people just don't know it exists.

Plus you need the most recent MOT number which you would have to get off a seller, not that they should refuse to give it to you.

May not have been clocked, could be an engine replacement or different clocks??

Gives you room to ask though doesn't it... I was looking at a Volvo S80 a few weeks ago, seemed cheap, asked for the MOT number, got it, checked history online... Had average yearly mileage until 2006, it's on 52k... no MOT in 2007... 2008 comes, and it's on 125k... Alarm bells rang for me, first thing I thought was it might have had the clocks changed or possibly been in an accident, and off the road for a year, hence no MOT. It's really useful if you can get the number.

What happens if your car was on the Isle of Man for 8 years and didn't have to have a mot? lol

But my service history tells me it's clear.

Not really an accurate way of checking though that online MOT thing.

Who's to say that just before its MOT, it isn't clocked back to say 2k miles more than the last MOT. Do a shit load of miles, then clock it back every year. On paper it would look like it hasn't been clocked.
