Morning All,
Well after what was a gret opening race in Melbourne which saw Jenson Button take victory with Vettel second and team mate Hamilton 3rd, its time to fly over to Malaysia for the 2012 F1 Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit.
Free Practice is all ready over, Hamilton has topped the time sheets in both sessions by 0.500 seconds to either Vettel or Schumacher. Usually produces some good racing the Sepang International Circuit with lots of oppertunitys for overtaking, been on the calander since its 1st race in 1999 where Eddie Irvine won for Ferrari. This will be the 14th running of the race which has been won from pole on 7 occasions and the previous two races have been won by Vettel. DRS zone has been positioned on the main pit straight with the detection zone on the straight prior.
Could be a good weekend for Mercedes which has run well in both practice sessions with the long straights playing to they're strengths, hope the Williams can continue with the performance it showed in Melbourne and get some solid points on the board. Like to see Button get another win on the board but think it will be a difficult task, the front end looks like it will be very tight this weekend, very hard to call carn't wait should be a great race.

Would love to see Jensen win the championship this year. Hamilton annoys the crap out of me, always has done. But think Vettel will be challenging at every race

I think if Hamilton can keep it together in the race and get a good start if he's on pole he could win, but as Jenson is just so much of a cool customer, i think he has more chance of winning.

Would love a cheeky podium from Schumacher this weekend.
Button to take the win, Hamilton's tyre management still isn't good enough when compared, and Jenson is still lapping at a nigh on identical race pace.
Hopefully we'll see red bull flounder this weekend aswell.

Interesting on the Mercedes complaint. Brawn has said that the teams complaining is because they dont understand how the system works, when a protest happens Mercedes have to explain the ins and outs of the system to other teams.

I think a merc will win, I've placed a sneaky bet on vettel though he had what I considered quite good odds of 5-1

Good odds, as said in practice 'the cars all over the place'.
I actually want to see Kimi on podium this weekend, he has the car to do it just never puts down quick times in practice.

As much as I'd like to see Button win I reckon RB will do anything to get Vettel on pole tomorrow.
Got a free bet on him at 4/1

Have to agree with you there craig
Some stats..
Vettel (2011, 2010) x2
Button (2009) x1
Kimi (2008, 2003) x2
Alonso (2007, 2005) x2
Schumacher (2004, 2001, 2000) x3
Also...Kimi has had a gearbox change so will start 5 places back from where he qualifies.

Vettal can kiss my ass, Am backing the Brits again of course should be an interesting race i think this track suits Hamilton more than Button though... Guess will see Sunday :)

Judging from practice Hamilton looks set for 1st on Sunday.
A shame really because I've really gone off favour for him, he's acted like such a brat!
Regards of his skill on track, he is over shadowed by his attitude of track in my opinion. :n:
Realistically I hope Button will win, but I'm more Intrested in the back runners. I'm hope Schumacher gets a good result, I'm sure Kimi will provide the entertainment again. Along with Kobayashi, Maldonado and Di Resta :y:
Red Bull are still struggling for pace, blatently obvisious in Melbourne when Vettel couldn't close the gap on Mclaren even on DRS. I think Webber & Vettle will struggle again this week & IMO maybe awhile before they are competitive.
Let's hope Malaysia mirrors the brilliant opening at Melbourne.

What's this based on? Other than wishful thinking from a lot of people.
Also has anyone got a 2022 live timing app for free? I had a great one for last year but can't find one this year.

Lies
Think they were looking into trulli
How does this work when 2 people get the same time in qualifying, webber and Kimi the exact same times in qualifying who gets the place?
I know Kimi is being pushed back five places but if he was fourth he wold have been pushed back to ninth not tenth.
Is it work on previous q2?
Baz
24th March 2012, 10:36
Not sure but it can't be from Q2 as Kimi was faster, they obviously do the timings to more than a hundreth of a second, all I can think of anyway

What a race, dont know where to start.
Great drive from Perez for Ferrari, sorry Sauber, thats the next race in China when he replaces Massa. Think if it hadn't been for his mistake in turn 14 he would have had a good chance at taking Alonso for the win. Was a good drive from Alonso too managed his tyres well and still able to put in quick times on them.
Shame Buttons race was spoilt with the collision with the HRT of Karterkayen, think Button was a little sloppy there should have done better. Other drives worth mentioning, Senna got a solid finish for Williams in 6th, Eric Vergne for Torro Rosso 8th in only his 2nd start and Kimi finishing 5th.
Joking aside, I think the writing is on the wall for Massa, with Perez been in the Ferrari young driver programme it should be a no brainer, unless the go for a Trulli as mentioned but we know what happened last time when they took Fisichella on and dont think he scored a point.

I'd be Intrested to see an in cockpit view on that corner.
Why are HRT still on the grid, they are a joke!

Karthurkayn was shit in every other car hes been in.
If it wasnt for the money behind him due to the inidan appeal he wouldnt be in F1 by a long shot.

It's not win though. I'm really disappointed with seb. He turned in on the HRT. The puncture was his own fault.
Gareth_R
26th March 2012, 12:49
I don't think you can put 100% of the blame on either driver, it was just one of those things. Besides, when I was looking at the replays I couldnt see either driver making a definite move across, just a coming together which the HRT driver was probably in a better position to avoid than Seb. It just makes a change to see him doing a different kind of one finger salute! I was just impressed that I managed to catch the moment with the Print Screen button :D.
Viper
26th March 2012, 13:56
It was Seb's fault. He came out of the corner straight across the HRT. As much as I don't want to blame Seb, the HRT did nothing wrong.

Really Vettels fault when Karthikeyan gets penalised for it in the HRT. Seb did not cause this incident. Get your facts straight.

Grosjean isn't having much luck at the moment I might place a bet on the next race for him to actually finish, the odds must be pretty good.
rey
26th March 2012, 16:35
Grosjean so far is performing exactly as he did in his last F1 stint..
And Karthikeyan even said that he turned back onto the line too early, and that Vettel was trying to bully him off the racing line so he could pass.
Ryan
26th March 2012, 16:41
irrespective of whos fault it was Karthurkayn shouldn't be in an F1 car. Indian money having too much power.
rey
26th March 2012, 16:43
100% agree with you.
HRT shouldn't really be on the grid at all, absolutely no pace, shit drivers.
Seriously hoping that they consistently fall outside of the 107% in qualifying on a regular basis.

DLR is very experienced, but the whole gimmick of Indian drivers in F1 shows up how F1 drivers are not the best of everyone. Chandock also was shite.
