could be the rocker cover gasket .

I thought that so I replaced the rocker and its still got this leak. It does look like its coming from the head gasket but the new gasket hasn't even covered 1000 miles.

Take it back? The work they did should still be under warranty...
I didn't even skim my head and have no oil leaks so something was done wrong :n:

just check that the rocker cover bolts arent over-tight. feel free to correct me if im wrong, but if its too tight then that could cause a leak iirc...

The rocker bolts are ok torqued upto 5nm.

Does anyone know if tightening the head bolts up will stop the leak

I've known people to tighten the headbolts by it slightly....but then you run the risk of warping the head!

you should have your head bolts redone at about 1000 miles this might be your problem

I had my head gasket done around 25k ago & i`ve got oil seeping out where you described. Its been like it for 3yrs hasn`t got any worse so i`ve left it & the car runs fine. Its a common place for 8v`s to leak oil from.

Did you use easy gasket when putting new gasket on? Makes sure it seals extra tight. Or as been said, rocker cover gasket.

Definately isn't the rocker has been changed and checked. don't think the garage used anything on the head gasket. Just seems wierd how it can leak after 1000 miles of it been changed

My mates punto's head gasket went 3 times in a week due to not being skimmed properly..

Yeah they do it mate, happens on my Saxo and my sisters 206, there's like a tear drop shape in the head gasket and that's where it leaks from, don't hurt them though been like it since we had them
