Hi all, ive just got a 2 year old jack russell cross yesterday from a friend, he didn't know anything about the dog as it was taken from a royal marine who'd been beating it up since a pup, hes a belter now and is so friendly.

only have a few pics as i cant find my SD card, ive been told by two people it may be a jack russell x corgi, i can deffo see the corgi side of him in his face but thought maybe someone would know on here possibly.

here he is :

I agree with the jack russel / corgi. We have a jack russel beagle cross and he's got similar ears / colours. Make sure he doesn't have the jack russell personality though haha

thanks mate, i was expecting to get lauged at, tho i did google jack russell x corgi and some of the pictures do indeed look just like him,

if you see him directly face on he does look very much like a corgi.

Why not ?

We have a Jack Russell and her personality is brilliant

yeah thats why i got another one after splitting with the ex, just didnt know id end up with a cross, im happy that i have him tho for sure.

i thought my last jack russell was fast but this dog should be in the races lol, he was outrunning my mates 4 year old lab with ease

they are known for being very fast runners

Yeah mines fast, when my Shepard is chasing him the jack can out run him and circle around him and bites the back of the shepards legs, he usually gets sat on then lol

lol, he hasn't been out very much since being born, his muscles are quite weak, i cant imagine how fast he will be after a few months of daily walking,

im sure the marine that had him trained him to hunt as he was sniffing out rabbit holes with ease and trying to get into them, my previous jack russell had no interest in doing so,

maybe its just natural instinct but he seems to know when somethings scuffering about and hes off spotting the hole way before i do.

I always heard that jack russel crosses can have a bad temper. Good to see you guys have nice dogs! We've recently had a french bulldog puppy. Sounds just like a pig.

I also have two Jack Russells, however believe one was docked and treated badly. Very frightened and very stubby tale. Although docking is illegal. it obviously didn't stop them.

I can't stand cruelty to animals. It's the fact that we don't know what they are saying that makes it so bad for me!

I dont see the need for docking in this day & age, i presume it was for when they were used for hunting ? more agile ? easier to get into the rabbit holes etc..

i guess they are still used in Ireland for hunting thus why its still legal to dock there.

this wee chap is still very anxious even a year after my mate had taken it from the dickheed marine, hes scared of loud noises and pee's a little, i go to let him know its ok and he cowars down,

im sure he'll be fine soon, he's settled in so quick, he wont leave my side.

Spent a good £70 odd today on treats, lots of new toys, big bags of food new collar new lead, and got a tag engraved for his collar.

tomorrow hes going into k9 kutz for a pampering. hes one spoilt wee dog, i think he deserves it after his first year as a pup with that marine beating him. dunno how someone could do those kind of things to a defenseless animal.

karmas a bitch, i hope he gets his ear torn off by the next dog he trys to hit lol.

Slight thread hijack!
This is our new pup, we got her as a rescue dog but they weren't sure what she was they suggested German Shepard/greyhound cross.

But I think she may be a Belgian Malinois (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgian_Shepherd_Dog_(Malinois))

You can still dock, if you can officially prove they are working dogs - In England.

Not AT ALL in Scotland

*she eats loads but she won't put on weight very quickly. She was quite underweight when we got her, slowly we are building her up. But she's more interested in playing than eating. She gets properly spoilt, but she just seems to burn it off too quickly. :S

As for the ears... Lol. We're hoping she's going to grow into them a bit better :p

An old shepard we had wouldnt put weight on and the vet said he had hip displashea* when he was a pup and didnt give him more than two years.. lived until he was 10 iirc.

She has a good hip score so it's not that. She had an upset tummy for a while so now she's on tablets for ibs. Seems to work. She just does everything at 100 miles per hour so she burns it off so quickly.
She's just had her lady giblets out so tht will make her put on a bit of weight. She's a randy devil so we were worried she'd come home pregnant.
