Gear Knob

morning all,

i need some wisdom. I own a saxo vtr 2002 plate. the gear knob is loose as shit so i need to replace it, simple i know. but there is a white sleeve glued over the gear rod under the knob so i cant just put a universal gear knob on it. does anyone know if this is default vtr and can anyone point me in the direction of the correct gear knob or should buy or shoul i just attempt to rip of the sleeve, if anyone knows that would be great. heres a photo

The white sleeve is standard on the majority of post 2000 Peugeot/Citroen cars. (not sure about brand new ones though)

You can get another gear knob off ebay for cheap, later model saxo/106/206/306 will all fit with that sleeve on.

If you really want a universal one on you will need to remove it i think hack saw is the best method. In my opinion universal ones look rubbish and the standard ones look nice.

do any not have the sleeve? As i gotta fit my shortshift and cba to take the current one off..

not sure actually. is shortshift the linkages cause ive got to replace them also as the car has been thrashed lol i have a great deal of questions for this website aha

i cut mine off my old saxo, as my mate pulled my gear knob off and threw it i had no choice but to get a new one,
i cut the white sleeve off then bought a universal one from halfrauds (you have alittle screw in the side which holds it tight to the leaver)

i changed the linkages and the gear shit unit imo its too short haa!
