I have a custom straight through exhaust, with decat mani....
Basically I wanted to tone the noise down as much as possible.
Phoned the exhaust place up and they said they could weld me in a stainless centre silencer (middlebox he called it) to bring the noise down.
Would this work OK. I still want a nice purr but hate that loud drone you get on motorways.
Has anyone ever had a decat mani with standard exhaust on a mark two....I imagine if i had the middle box mine would sounds similar to a setup like that.

Mine was OK, when i only had the straight through.
I thought id be able to tolerate the noise increase when i had my decat mani on but.... its not happening. I want to basically try and keep the power gain i felt with the decat mani, but limit the noise a touch.
Only thing i can think of is having a centre silencer welded into my system.
Its not too bad on normal roads, its the motor way and on acceleration. It gets so loud you can barely hear conversation. Getting a bit annoying now.

yes it would work its basically a baffled.box. will lower the noise about 10db
if your lookong to to go even quieter try a.resonated backbox. miltek do some ones but theyre a bit to.quiet for my liking

I think as you say, reducing it ten db sounds about right. Middle section it is then. Should be ok.

As above a baffled midbox will reduce the noise by about 10-12 decibels, so u should still get a nice sound without it being too annoying
On my vts I used to run a straight through exhaust 2" exhaust with no cat or midbox, onto a 5" custom made backbox and also had no soundproofing, and believe me that was nearly unbearable at times

Its crazy aint it lol.... It has this horrible drone when accelerating on a motorway, then seems to dissappear anything after 75.
