if its part of the oil breather setup would it change engine noise much? because I seem to be getting a beefy noise whilst accelerating..... also does it do much damage whilst its broken? or does it cause petrol lose or anything?

I've put some plasters over it for the moment.....But the nob heads at a garage I took my car to must of broke it... because there was some gaffer tape all wraped round it.

i have that exact pipe broken. Dont worry about it, you dont even need it really. Its the oil breather pipe which takes oil vapours and puts them into the airbox on one side and the inlet manifold on the other. Just tape up the pipe so oil doesnt leak out of it and it should be fine. Mine has been gaffa taped up for a couple of months and runs exactly the same.
If you think, most people who run aftermarket induction kits and airfilters so even have that connected...
