it depends how dark you do it on wether it it legal. mine rear are tinted completely black . but ive only been pulled once about them. and pulled over 5 times to say my rear drivers side bulb had gone out.so they are looking at them. there is a thing called fly eyes kit which i have on my headlights which you could use for tailights tints them but is still legal and you get a certificate with it

just remove the light, clean it, (mask it if not tinting the whole light) and spray. A monkey can do it...

i find you can have two effects with the finished product though. If you do plenty of thin layers, it turns out matt black

if you lay on one heavy coat (not so heavy it runs) then it comes out glossy

Matt black lights look cack, gloss black look good :)

This is not true as such. Depending how dark you go depends on how likely you are on getting pulled. However any sort of tint no matter how light is actually not permitted. Anything that reduces the light output, changes the colour of the light output or obscures the light output at all is actually not permitted.

trouble is with this is that you can give ur lights a totaly black apearence and not reduce any of the light (obviously a very small amount as even the standard lense does) and remain perfectly legal. there is infact no legal reason why you cant tint your lights. your just not aloud to as u say reduce the light output or distort it (which again most people do :P)

for example these are the focus lights u can buy and are again totaly legal because they dont actualy effect the light atall

one thing u need to bear in mine though as the saxo doesnt have another is rear reflectors

You are very much mistaken. I dont know where you are getting your information from but i would recommend you have a look at the actual legislation. Unlike windows where this is a defined tinting limit with lights no tinting at all is actually permitted. Any tint is actually not permitted and it is solely down the Police or VOSA officers personal opinion to if something modified in this way will be pulled over or not. However even if one officer says yes thats fine it still does not make it legal. As it would only take one to pick up on it and say sorry you can not have that and that would be that. The only parts that are namely permitted and they could not stop you using are European or British Standard approved parts and fitted correctly. Any other part would be effectively illegal to use on a relatively modern cars such as the Saxo.

i would have to sya that is utter ball arks. for god sake look at every car u have ever seen. they have tinted red rear lights. thats not illegal! neither is having clear lenses to its not that they have to be read.
and again if they are infact illegal why are major vehicle manafactures not being sued left right and centre concidering many new cars have tinted lights. it requires comon sense and may well be a matter of opinion by diffrent officers. but no light tints are not illegal. (as said however badly self tinted lights will be asking for a pull)

You are clearly trying to twist my worlds. As i have already pointed out the simply fact is manufactures have all there vehicle lights tested and are marked as such. These lights are perfectly legal even if there tinted.

Simply taking it on your own to modify lights in any way you chose is to the letter of the law not permitted. And if any Police or VOSA officer does not like any modification you have done to your lights in this way they will pull you because it is an offence.

Yes you can get approved aftermarket lights that are tested and approved for many vehicles and these are legal. For example smoked jewels for the saxo are perfectly legal assuming you fit there reflector they provide with them.

to argue with axracing seems stupid as he does know his shit and its kinda common knowledge that hes correct on his point, tinting anything thats not tinted from factory invalidates all the emarks as such cos they werent tinted from factory. i have my rear lights and headlights tinted and each mot my garage tests them with how much light they let through and if reflector can be seen just because they pass mot doesnt mean a bobby cant say he dont like em and get me to change em. but there also the case if u do them too dark do u really wanna be rear ended cos car behind cant see your brake lights then u have to tell your insurance this and void insurance

And having them tinted that dark is perfectly legal ?? :D
