when you get a no claims bonus, is it just for the car or the policy holder,

like if i got a new car, id have to get a new policy wouldnt i?
because its another car, and therefore would i lose my no claims bonus? or would i still have it?

how long have you been driving?

less than a year, but had insurance for the car when i had a provisional, so i have 1ncb

but my dads the policyholder, so is it true that you can only use it for one policy, ie you cant use the ncb if you like 3 cars?

the NCB is for the policy holder though . . .

unless stated other wise - but then i think they keep it through them only and other insurers wont accept it.

if your dads the policy holder then you have no claims unless your on a policy which the named drivers get no claims also,

No claims applies to the policyholder per vehicle. E.g. if you have 3 years no claims on 1 car, you can use that discount on any other car as long as it's just the 1 car. If you decide to buy a second car, your no claims on the second car will start from 0, but most insurers will offer an introductory discount.

No claims applies to the policy holder only, except in some circumstances will offer NCD for named drivers too. This no claims is usually only valid if you take out your own policy with the same company though.

Hope I've made sense. :S

If you are a PH the NCB is earns in your name. As a ND you do not have the right to earn a NCB discount, however if you take a policy out with the same insurer they may honour that you have been a ND for a year and provide you with one year NCB.

In the event you start as a PH on a new car your NCB will start with any other insurers at 0 years.

If you had two cars and were a PH on both and earned three years NCB on each and decided to sell one car you cannot bring your NCB on both cars together. You can only use one set of NCB.

In short, NCB can only be applied to the policy holder (which you're not) and can only be used on one policy at a time.

You will have named driving experience though. Which will lower the insurance a bit. Not much though.
