Whats the best cloth/tool for drying the car after washing it? I use a normal chamois (sp) leather at the moment but are there any other things out there that are better to use?
Also whats the best cloth for polishing?

I use the same as you although I have seen a lot of people use those new water blade things and they seem pretty good.

Polished bliss recommend a Microfibre cloth you can buy off them for about a tenner. I just bought one, it should arrive today, so i cant review it but judging by their results it seems to be pretty decent. Apparently it can soak up all the excess without ringing it once.

So just a bog standard water blade you can use? Cause we have window cleaning ones at work for like 50p so i might pick one up if they dont damage the paint

i use a chamois, i did have one of those auto glym water blades but i dont rate them that much, i reckon after time it could ruin your paint work. So in my persoanl opinion you cant be a good chamois!!

Few thoughts... water blades sound good, but if you are unlucky enough to pick up a randon bit of grit they can cause some serious damage. Chamois leathers work well normally, but you try cleaning them after every wash and see how long they last. Waffle weave towels are the best solution, as they are so absorbant they allow pat drying... this is the only way to avoid the usual swirls and cobwebbing seen on may cars. I just fold the towel in half, lay it on the panel, pat gently, then lift and move on. Sounds laborious, but it's just as quick as wiping, and is by far the safest way to dry a car. Also, waffle weaves can be washed weekly with no ill effects on absorbancy, etc, and will typically last 12-18 months before needing to be replaced. :)
