Hello people, been on SaxP for a while now and stayed coming on here when I sold my old 1.1, so obviously i had to give in and buy another Saxo...

My old 1.1 how it finished..

I bought a 1999 Citroen Saxo VTR in Mauritius Blue with 68,000, no tax, 5 months MOT, full service history, old MOT’s, and 3 previous owners. Had a new rear beam, fairly recent clutch, new brakes all round, new rear shocks, new front top mounts, track rod ends, droplinks, wishbones and driveshafts and uprated gear linkages. It’s in good condition for its age, just needed the drivers side driveshaft to be changed which came in the boot and the car was modified when i bought it..

The day i got it i started changing things to the way i like them, as the previous owner who was on here had it sort of euro styled, i want it to be remembered for that so i decided i wanted to make it my own and go OEM with it.

Thanks mate :) yeah I won't rest untill she's mint if I'm honest, love the car too much.. Hoping to get the passenger side door resprayed soon as there's little car park dints on it and it really bugs me!

Got some Xsara washer jets yesterday and have some pressed plates on order..

Unsure on wing mirrors, shall i get 106 or Saxo mirrors?

Also on the look out for some VTS wheels in the near future.

Yeah i think so too, i'm gonna do all the plastics in satin black and mirrors with the mauritius caps :) Gonna call Citroen tomorrow and order my de-aerial ax bung and paint that satin black too, and will be sorting my grill out too this week.

the wheels smashed up big time. :( let us know if you cant get the AX aerial bung as I've a brand new spare one, did it to mine too :) OEM but that made it better looking, take the wire to the underside of the skin and improves radio too, uses the whole roof for signal

Just couldn't really put it back to the way it was so i want to make it my own and go OEM and clean, the way a mk1 should be :)

Either 'S wheels or 205 GTi's, but need the passenger side door and the bonnet resprayed cause i'm being really OCD lol..

Got my VTS wheels fitted today, in the progress of painting my 106 mirrors satin black with mauritius caps, satin black xsara washer jets, satin black aerial and sourced and sprayed the front toe eye cover :)

Pictures will be on when i find the lead i promise lol :)

Next payday will be my insurance renewal which means ££££ saved and 106 GTI leather and a S2 Rallye Carpet, so if anyone reading this has either of these for sale then PM me :)

As you can see I've fitted a standard backbox again for now as had to give the Mongoose i borrowed off a friend back, but will be getting a Saxsport system when funds allow.. :afro:

Very, very happy with the start i've made with the car at the moment, and got some more progress on its way pretty much weekly, this consists of;

-A little surprise with the grill, something a little different BUT subtle ;)
-Passenger side driveshaft replaced
-Steering rack gaiters replaced
-New headlining sourced and retrimmed in black suede
-Fogs tinting yellow with Lamin-x
-106 half leather interior
-Desire door cards
-Blue S2 Rallye carpet or black carpet

Still saving for some GAZ coilovers at the moment, shouldn't be too long till she's low :D

Been a bit busy over the last week or two, getting stressed with paint and then finally getting it right, trial and error is the way nowadays lol! Staying OEM has slipped out the window sort of, so going with OEM-ish/clean look haha!

Finally got round to refurbishing the wiper arms in satin black and finishing my mirrors satin black and Mauritius Blue, wiper arms came out well and mirrors, well... They were fun ;) had to re-do them like 4 times because i wasn't happy with the finish, good learning curve though...

Also had to refit my front number plate as the sticky pads i had were shite so bought some new ones and stuck it back on but i didn't get a picture as im sure you all know what a pressed plate looks like on a bumper lol...

Been a busy couple of weeks if im honest, just need to get insurance renewal out the way and get on with sourcing and fitting a new n/s driveshaft, steering rack boots and then 2 new tyres as current ones are nearing the limit.

Been busy recently working my ass off getting little bits and niggles that are irritating me sorted, done my grill like my old 1.1 grill smoothed all the little slats out on the inside, painted it satin black to match the wing mirrors, washer jets, wiper arms, aerial and soon the bumpstrips and splitter...

Happy with the front for now, just need to re-seal the fog lights i had spare that i tinted, and then headlights and indicators need to be tinted/sourced. Looks subtle with the Mauritius chevrons :)

Came up well, just jet washed it and waxed it and dried it with micro fibre, gonna give it a proper detail on my next day off, as it takes me like 6 hours till i get to the point where i'm impressed lol!

Got some custom badges made up, only subtle ones as they're going satin black and the 'VTR' will be done Mauritius. Where they're gonna be fitted is a little secret at the moment, but i like them as i havent seen anyone else with them ;)

Today i went to the breakers with a few friends and finally bought a new headlining, drivers side rear bulb holder and passenger side interior wing mirror fascia as mine is fubbered lol...

So that's some progress for now, although have been busy ordering a new driveshaft (n/s), power steering rack boots, rocker cover gasket, 2x front tyres to match the rear ones and some tinted front indicators to fit once i've tinted my headlights. All should be here by next week!

Got some quotes last week on some bodywork that i'm having done, which is the passenger door resprayed to get rid of the car park dings on it, bonnet resprayed to get rid of stone chips, tailgate resprayed (debadged and washer jet deleted). Also got a quote to finally get rid of the rear window tint (as im too scared to do it myself and rip off the heated screen elements lol!) So that's being done on the 12th :D

Insurance renewal is coming up next week with my second years no claims, and coilovers are not so far away from being afforded now! FINALLY!!

Also booked my MOT for August 2nd so it'll be ready for then :D

I think masking should be ok, seen loads of people do it with good results, just take your time triple checking for any gaps etc!

Hmmm completely in two minds really, Think i'll leave them silver and the lower it on them like that :) Just want it to be as mint as i can get it if im honest, so getting some panels resprayed and need to buy clips for the VT sideskirts to get it to sit flush, is there any particular clips i need to buy do you know?

I will be doing the bumpstrips next payday anyway :) not quite sure how much paint i'm going to need though :/

Passed it's MOT the other day with no advisories, changed the driveshaft, steering rack boots, rocker cover gasket and droplink went through no problem was well proud :y:

Found a little rust on the boot floor, had it welded pretty much as soon as i found it 2 days ago lol!

Got bored of the Mk2 rears, so swapped with a mate for some early dark Mk1's which made it much better,Also de-aerial'd, de-tinted and de-washer jetted... Pictures will be added when i can find the fucking lead haha..

So happy with her for the moment :D

As you all read, MOT was booked for 2nd August and i had to do the few things that needed doing to prepare for it;

-2x new tyres

Got them all done, which suprisingly didn't cost me much to be fair,

New tyres fitted first of all, nothing fancy just some middle range Nexen N6000's....

Also got to change the starter motor as it failed on me the other day :( will be picking it up and fitting it this saturday and then on the hunt for a near mint passenger door as it makes sence to buy another one instead of paying for it to be resprayed, and a better conditioned mauritius bonnet, (if anyone has a mauritius door and bonnet in good condition for sale drop me a pm)

UPDATE

My mate that i sold my old 106 1.1 runaround too has bought my mates Wicked Red VTR and stripped it for the engine, interior and interior loom, electric windows, central locking, power steering, beam, struts, brakes, gearbox and all the mods, all fitted to the little 106 so i took advantage of the opportunity to get hold of a Ph1 Rallye Carpet, buying the carpet for a bargain price ;)

Also bought a new starter motor and fitted that, only for my battery to give up too so got a new battery as well, kept me entertained for a while fitting the starter.. Can also see the new K&N on there too along with the cold air feed :D

Removed my Mauritius Chevrons as they stone chipped! :( Taken them off to be painted Satin Black so for the time being i have been to the scrappy and got some standard chevrons for free :D here's a picture, thought it looked cool taken in my mates wing mirror glass lol!

Don't really wanna spend £4-500 for brand new ones when i can pick up some in really good condition already built into struts so i can save my standard suspension for when/if i ever part with the saxo... So if you know anyone selling a full GAZ GHA kit (preferably already built up) in good nick and rear shocks then let me know! CASH WAITING! :D :y:

Want mine to be in your ones sort of condition, needs the passenger door and bonnet respraying ideally due to the carpark dents and stone chips so it will be done eventually haha

60mm will look good, I went for 50mm Apex kit and really pleased with it, looks and drives a lot better now :) when you getting it lowered?

Mine isn't perfect, has a few dents in too which also annoy me but then it is 11 years old! What else you planning to do?

Still got to fit the Rallye Carpet, need to source some black fabric and adhesive for the headlining, 106 half leathers, supersprint full system, clean up the engine bay, satin black bumpstrips, door and bonnet respray and wheel refurb maybe a few other bits and bobs... Chichester Camberley Auto Factors mate :D they're really good quality plates too!

Update 31-10-12

Had a busy couple of weeks due to getting a new job and thought i'd treat myself, now i know my original plans were to get some gaz coilovers but i decided i'd go for the springs/shocks set up due to the shitty roads around my area and fear of my car falling to bits being so rigid lol so i got a 60mm Apex Sport lowering kit from Kam Racing which seems good quality, will be booking it into KrisB to be fitted asap...

Well, been busy ordering and getting new bits for the saxo.. Bought a 3" Sportex catback and fitted that, had the usual problem of exhaust hitting the rear beam :( but seems to be sorted and got it sitting in the recess how it should which made me happy lol.

Then as I got paid I thought I'd buy some bits and bobs for the old girl and bought LEDs for sidelights, number plate lights (again), map light, interior and boot lights. Also bought 106 GTI A pillars as even though I've already got my black pillars I want my alarm sensors to be a little more discreet and the GTI ones have the little slots for them built in lol, and got myself some white xenon headlights to match my white xenons in the fogs.

That's all kept me from getting bored while waiting for my new rear wheels to be in at stanceduk, gathered everything I need in the way of the wheels such as tyres which are 185/45/15 Nangkangs all round, as want more stretch on the rear than front, 20mm hub centric spacers, all spigot rings and the front 7J wheels, the rears I've had to wait on I think because their 8J as most people go for these particular wheels in 7J all round.. Not gonna say what wheels yet though so that should be all sorted in the next two weeks ;)

Also been sorting all the headlining bits out as I've retrimmed mine and I'm refusing to fit it until all the grey plastic bits are painted black lol, so started that today and will do the rest tomorrow, pics will follow when all is fitted :)

Wheels are BSX 15x7 front and 15x8 rear with 20mm spacers all round and fitted with Nangkang 185/45/15 so a subtle bit of stretch on the front and a fair amount on the rear.

Lenso BSX 15x7 front and 15x8 rear, he had the 15x7 all round with tinted everything, I'm just trying to make it look fresher :) want the front down 80mm and rear 70mm and putting mk2 rears on, debadging, smooth boot plinth with boot popper, smooth the rear tow eye, wide mouth front bumper with satin black insert, smooth off the VTR door badges, twin fans and satin black bumpstrips, need passenger door resprayed ideally along with the bonnet just to make it cleaner, really been thinking about getting the whole car resprayed in fairness but I'm indecisive with it lol

Maybe colourcode with gloss black on every other exterior plastic and yellow fogs. Just put mk2 rears on too which has cleaned it up quite a lot, just can't decide if I prefer it with the mk2s or mk1s lol! Your cars coming along well man

Coilovers finally, bought from LSOfreak so thanks mate! Just need to get 5" springs when I move house as I wouldn't be able to get into the private yard where I keep my car overnight, sad face! Wound to lowest setting in the meantime!

106 leather and desire door cards as been waiting ages the right ones
Saxsport system and SS Stainless 421
Respray if I can't find a decent door or bonnet in Mauritius
Camming and remap with Newman Ph3 as decided i didnt want to 16v, with head rebuild, vernier pulley, head gasket and cambelt kit obviously, engine bay painted, 16v or 1.4xs box, ecosse enclosed induction kit, nissens rad and twin fan! Something a little more individual around where I live hopefully :)

Slight update on this...

I finished college in July as a fully qualified Mechanic so decided i wanted a side project while i can't find a job in a garage anywhere down my way, working on the tills in Asda. Beep, beep, beep.

Getting a little bored and pissed off with the car as it is, needs bodywork sorting and I do love it, so decided to keep the car but FINALLY get a 16v in my life. My mates got a little '92 Ph1 106 1.0 which he's had for a few years, fully resprayed and tidied but he's bought a GTI and its just sat on his drive sorned as the tax had run out and oil getting into the coolant. It has MOT till late May and he said he only wants £200 for it so i thought what the hell, may aswell buy it and do the headgasket so i can drive it around with ridiculous cheapness to insure and run while the Saxo gets the love it deserves.

Aim is to have the Saxo back on the road for FCS '14 with a 16v, Saxsport and Ecosse enclosed induction kit for now with nissens rad and a few other like 'bay respray and body kit and marks on the shell sorted. (Already started collecting some parts)

Will start this project in the coming weeks and will keep you all updated. Can't wait to sink my teeth into this and have a change.

Sorry about the essay just thought i'd show that the threads not dead haha.
