can anyone help!!!! i had the YLOD on my ps3 yesterday :'( iv done the hair dryer tempory fix and its worked so i want to backup my ps3 hdd but dont have anything big enough.
my main concern is my gt5 save as its took me a year and a half to get where i am now. so what i have done is copy the file off: Save Data Utility (PS3TM) and copied it to an SD card. now if i buy another ps3 could i paste that file and i wont loose my GT% progress? pleae tell me it will work. il be devastated to loose it all :'(

No, now if you had the Playstation member thing you could of saved all of your saves on there then put on new one.

Some saves will go on the new ps3, some are locked - pwnt.

:'( the gt5 one isnt protected so it is now on the SD card. but if i got a new ps3 is there a way to use my main account/profile on the ps3 (like you can with xbox360) if so then surely the save can be pasted onto the new ps3 and it will work?

Yeah just save your saved games onto a USB and copy them back onto your new PS3, thats what I did when I changed my 80GB for the 320GB. As said some are locked, Think out of my 30 or so game only 1 was locked, was a shit game anyway. GT5 will be fine however :y:

When you go onto your new PS3 just copy your saved file onto it and log into PSN as normal and away you go

haha i know, just being a bit empty headed and over worry at the same time there. if this ps3 holds out until i get a new one it will all be simple anyways. gutted tho as its the 60gb one. had good innings tho as i got it on day of release

My old 40gbs still running as new lol. 4/5yrs old with alot of useage in it.

my 250gb slim is 2yrs+ and got used alot also. I think the 80s, 60s 320s have issus.

My 80GB was fine, bought it second hand, had it until last year but as it was full from saved games and updates I wanted a new 320GB slim lol, traded in my 80GB and my PS2 and games and paid £10 :)
