Hey fellow sax mates.

I got a huge problem with my new Coilover kit from TA Technix.

My mechanic mounted it on my car yesterday, but ran into a lot of issues.

For stuff like this, he useally takes about 2 hours to install coilovers on a car, but this one took him 6 hours to do.

There werent any "How To" guide either.

First of all, he had to remove parts, that wasnt supposed to be removed he said :S ? He had to cut the round metal parts in the top out, for the coilovers to get in place - Is this normal?. And the weren't any space for the others parts, although they have to be on a car, he said? (http://peecee.dk/uploads/042012/Picture_1.jpg)

Second, some parts could not be mounted, because then the car couldnt be lowered as much as wanted (http://peecee.dk/uploads/042012/Picture_2.jpg)

Third, this is how much it could get lowered (http://peecee.dk/uploads/042012/Picture_3.jpg), and even with this, when I drive my car, i get a huge sound like "BANG", when im driving over bumbs etc. My mechanic says its the shock absorbers that can't go further down. They are too big/long. Is it possible to get some shock absorbers that are shorter?

It seems you have purchased the worst Coilover kit on the Market.

Posted this in a danish forum as well.

One said that the yellow things in pic 1, have to get cutted and fitted, and then the knocking sound would stop, because they are shock absorber stopper, or something like that.

Do this make any sense?

bump stop? would just bottom out sooner, and make the ride worse i would imagine

they will make it bottom out sooner but it might not bang as bad

they are to hold the shocks in.

and as already said mate, they are cheap and nasty along with raceland collies and the other crap.

the price you paid for them you could have paid a couple of 100 more and got gaz

bump stops only hide the problems with them and reduce the allready shortened travel youll just be hitting them and have a horrible ride

you can buy the pugsport 3" top spring pans and cut a coil off the springs and take the dampers to a machine shop and get them shortened to suit but tbh for the cost of messing you might aswell buy gazs and then spend a few nights out on the piss

ta technixx raceland v maxx g max hot tuning are all the same and are all absolute shite

thats what i thought, but they are usually gold colour, and have little notches cut out the bottom of them :S

Original poster

you in your first picture, you dont need any of that. Ideally, you could keep them yellow bumpstops, but only a really small one so to not bottom out all the time, so cut it in quarter or something

the banging noise, as ive heard, is the top spring pan hitting something

what you need to do, is cut the top coil off, and use 3 inch spring pans. This might resolve that issue, but then there is the possibility of them joke shock absorber which are too soft anyway to bottom out

cut your losses and sell them to be honest

Ill try to install the bumpstops and see if that helps :) Thanks
