View Full Version : VTR Fuel....

Hey Guys,
Right, just a little query.
When the light on my old Westcoast came on, i refuelled the car to full and it took around £40 - £43 (that's with 3 clicks on the pump)
Since i got the VTR, i have only gave it 3 full tanks but my problem is, that when the light comes on it only takes around £33 - £35 to fill it up (that's with 3 clicks on the pump again)
I'm presuming the tank sizes are the same yeah? 45 litres?
Any help is appreciated.

they seem to have the light come on early on the vtr, as I can easy do 40 mile after light has come on and then it will take £40, if I fill it as the light comes on takes about £30/35

40 mile of town driving?
They must come on much earlier, at same(ish) place where light comes on, i'm getting less fuel in the tank but better economy.

Depends how low you're fuelled when you go to fill up surely?
If it appears the same on the fuel guage then the calbration of the guage differs between your new one and your old one.
if you kept trying to fill the westcoast to the brim (after the clicks) you'd get about 2 more litres into it.
On the vtr if you did it you'd get about 10litres into it (like mine)
no idea why the clicks occur earlier though.

Really? So basically it clicks earlier than the Westcoast, therefore you can fit more in?
Weird how that happens. I reckon i am filling them up roundabout the same level, but again the carlibration could be different.

Yeah,
a bit random but after the clicks I've literally stuffed shit loads more fuel in piss.
Even though it's offically a 45litre tank I'm convinced it's nearer 50litres

I'll try that next time i fill up mate, cheers.
The needle moved off full after around 30 mile, on the Westcoast it moved after 50 - 60 mile, so i reckon your right.
I'll let you know.

What's the 'clicks'??
When you fill up and the petrol reaches the brim the pump cuts off the supply and "CLICKS" its a safety feature
Im assuming you've never filled up to the maximum ???

Sounds like a plan, no point putting through cleaner if you aint going change the filter.
That deserves a rep

why thank you kind sir its very true after putting cleaner through you must change the filter or youll have a clean engine etc but a dirty filter so make no difference worse if anything

the petrol light in my vtr is crap too..
i ignore it now, just go by my mileage.. most i ever had was 120 miles after light came on,,
if i was to fill it up straight after light came on, i could never squeeze anymore than 34 litres in.

Same here mate, it's weird.
I'm going to run the car right down on the light next time, then fill it up until i have 45 litres in the tank.
Already done 210 on 1/2 tank.
