First of all well done to Simo for making an insurance forum!

Just wondering is there any insurance companies that people know of that dont charge for engine mods? My mate says he knows one, but he cant remember the name of them. Just wondered if anyone else had?

i believe quinn direct dont charge any extra for any type of modification but for performance mods eg. lowering, exhausts etc you will need to send them an engineers report thats all

pretty sure with Quinn you don't pay for mods such as alloys, lowering, tints but you pay for engine mods. defo interested to know if there is a company that doesn't make you pay more for engine mods though i find it hard to believe

unsure yet tbh! undecided weather to go on my own insurance for a year, get the 1.0 looking something decent so, VT kit, VTR hubs, respray then maybe a VTR engine next year

vt kit and vtr engine is always a good place to start.

well i got 3 options.

go on my own insurance on 1.0 for a year then sell up. Insurance £1.8k i think it was fully comp
VTR - fully comp £1.5k on my mums

or 1.0 on my own, put no VT kit, respray n hubs then VT engine next year some time

On second thoughts, just drop a vtr engine in next year, leave the bodywork, just do a bit of smoothing, get a respray, and some nice, deep-dish rims euro-styleee.

Baz - You will get raped for dropping a VTR engine in the 1.0, think of all the hassle. Really isn't worth it.

Get a VTR in next few months, don't be a tart. Pay the extra insurance, you only live once. Haha :P

well admiral are stupid with engine mods, because they dont know much about them they class certain mods into groups and if ur car has alot of mods it works out well

im 17 and declared my lowering and backbox to them

they have two sections for lowering
>50mm (abit more)
<50mm (cheaper)

no report was needed

my backbox is classed as a full system with manifold

so therefore i can have a manifold and full exhaust system for the same price as a backbox

lowering increased my insurance £50 a year
full system, manifold mods(only have backbox) added £10 a year

and im only paying £800 a year on fully comp on my own name with mum as second driver :P

thats with the new multicar policy tho
