Johnno

TU-Tuning

i have heard GMAX arent the best though. Spax do some good springs without goin into Eibach territory.

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 13:53
right, how low should i go? im just doing springs, how about 50 front 60 back?

CampDavid
2nd August 2006, 13:53
Eibachs or H&Rs. Pay the extra and it may handle. I'd also get some decent shocks on there, Koni's at least. Gmax are soft as shit

CampDavid
2nd August 2006, 13:53
30mm maximum, unless you don't care about handling

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 13:54
oh right, they cant be that bad? they say the springs are 57 quid, what else can i get for around the 50 quid mark??

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 13:55
i though 40 didnt mess the handaling too much?

TU-Tuning
2nd August 2006, 13:56
they say pretty much 40 mm is the lowest on springs and standard shocks mate. My mate just went down 50 on standard shocks and uprated springs and i see why they say that, most of the coils are touching when its sitting there which is gonna cause issues. You got a quality VTR there id get yourself a kit. I wanna go 40 but im gonna get a Spax VSX kit, theres a few people on here who reccommend em and its only 200 quid.

Better than it bottomin out on a corner and losin the whole lot, thats my justification on spendin the extra money anyhoo

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 13:57
oh right, anyone got a link for that?

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 14:02
could i not lower it 50 front 60 back, and then get shocks at a later date? i dont have loads of money........

TU-Tuning
2nd August 2006, 14:04
Yeah you could. But lowerin 50 on springs with standard shocks isnt advised. Your car though mate. Personally im savin now so i can fit decent stuff rather than go half way because i want peace of mind

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 14:04
what will it handle like?

CampDavid
2nd August 2006, 14:10
If you do it that way you'll need to pay for the fronts to be fitted again, backs are easy though. I'd get a nice set of Koni's or Billsteins second hand and some H and R springs. 30mm cars handle nicely, 50mm cars I find tramline and understeer. Back lower than the front is a bad idea

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 14:11
right seems you know what you are talking about, how low shall i go if i got all the springs and shocks and everything, i like a low car bear in mind........

TU-Tuning
2nd August 2006, 14:13
From what I've heard on a sax its 40 for handling, 60 for style whore.

CampDavid
2nd August 2006, 14:13
30mm. Honestly, it will still handle. You could try coil overs and that may allow you to get to 50mm with out the issues I mention, but I doubt it

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 14:13
so its 50 inbetween :P?

CampDavid

It also depends on what wheels your getting mate. I have 15's but will get 16's in the future, so i have to get 40mm otherwise i will have a lot of arch work to do.

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 14:17
im keeping with 15's, ah right i get it now campdavid lol

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 14:23
hmmm, think about this, i aint a racing driver so handling wont matter than much, its not like it wont go round a corner, i dout i will notice a diff at normal road speeds, and i just read a post that he has gone down 50 and has no probs atall!!!..........

CampDavid
2nd August 2006, 14:30
Handling has sod all to do with grip. At 50mm it will just make corners less enjoyable. I've read about loads of people who have dropped cars down very low and say that they handle brilliantly. I've also driven them and they don't. I've also seen what a drop of 60mm did to my cars suspension over 40k miles. Needless to say all the original setup is in a bin somewhere

Johnno
2nd August 2006, 15:14
