Two problems, read a little about them but not too sure.

1st - was sat at lights, pulled away quick in 1st through into 2nd a clunk! something falls off my saxo and bounces off down the road!! Is this the gear linkage and is it a hard job to replace??

2nd - Power steering line is leaking. Started off slight leak so i topped it up and kept driving. Problem has become alot worse as im driving it and wont hold a full top up for 10 mins. Car has been lowered and on 16's but doesnt seem to be coming from near the wheels(read old thread on similar problem).

Any ideas folks because my saxo's dropping to bits!!! please help.

You didnt happen too see where it was loose did you? ive checked the area around the pump and this is fine. the leak appears to be coming from an area in the bay behind the steering wheel. sound deadening is soaking and there is a little ledge where it has built up on also.

when i realised my power steering had gone i whipped the wheel off and had a look but didnt see anything, other than a lot of fluid on the drive way and quite a bit on the steering rack. i never saw where the pipe had come loose either, sorry thats not of much help.

How much did you get it lowered?

my car is lowered 55mm on the front on g-max full suspension kit, although my car sits on vtr rims so i probably dont have as much hassle as you do being on 16's.

Gear linkages are very cheap to buy from Citroen and they can be a pain in the arse to fit just because of their location. I had my car up on a ramp and fitted it from the underside as there was no way I could position it from the top.

if your gear linkages had fallen of you wouldnt be able to change gears at all

Isn't there more than one though? The one that came off mine controlled the sidewards movement. I was still able to go up and down just not side to side.

I can still go through all the gears fine there just loose and 'clunky'. The feeling i get is that of a ball and socket joint, where the ball is just a pole in the socket as when i wobble the gear stick in can feel its free for half an inch then starts moving something else.

The linkage hasnt fallen scott but small clump of metal maybe the size of half a tennis went off bouncing down the road. Could have been debris on the road but who knows?

get under and check size of falling part sounds like gearbox mount

Could that cause this loose feeling as ive jus had the clutch done recently and there was a strange clunking noise coming from that area for a wihle afterwards?

the pas pip will have split due to the constant rubbing on it when lowered , it needs bending out of the way/repositioning. It is located at the back of the engine bay behind the engine. If you top up the power steering fluid and then open the bonnet an turn the wheels you should be able to see where its coming out from

scook sounds like a plan that mate! Are your wheels the same as mine by any chance? look fairly similar on the avatar? 16's? What is the pipe made from? and will a couple of tie wraps and jubille clips hold it out of the way or is this something which shouldnt be 'bodge modded'?

Mine are 17's, Team Dynamics Mirage i think , i got mine repositioned , think the pipe is made of metal so it will at least have to be bent out the way (wont need any jubilee clips or so on), If you bend it out the way then that should be the end of your problem. Its a lot better to reposition it as its totally out the way then. A good mechanic should be able to do this easily

Thanks for all the help fellaz, found the problems last night....

The power steering was leaking where the line meets something in the area behind the steering wheel and a nut had came loose!!!

Also found the problem with the linkage. the rod that comes directly from the gear stick towards the linkage rods has lost ball that makes the ball and socket joint at the end!

Does anyone know what this part is called and wheres best to find it??
